I have these feelings too. I haven’t heard so much homophobia in a long time. But I am glad to report I am having a blast this rainy pride weekend in toronto. We do need this joy. And we won’t stop fighting to protect our rights.
A week before Pride last year, my town was dripping in rainbows. The march is this coming Saturday and I have seen maybe 4 or 5 in town and all on businesses, people are nervous .
We’ve decided that we’d rather not risk marking our house out and aren’t putting one up either.
It is, but we have kids and quite frankly I’m not about to put them at risk of being screamed at, or my house at risk of attack. My neighbours are amazing and we get on really well with them, but it’s not them I’m bothered about. It’s the random nutter radicalised by the idiots across the border and Pierre fucking Polievre
Anecdotally, Saskatoon Pride was this past Saturday. Tremendous turnout of at least 10,000 (actually the parade this year was the largest parade of any kind in the history of Saskatchewan), and as far as I’m aware there were no protestors of any kind anywhere along the parade route, and there were no security incidents at all during the festival
I hate that this trend is rearing its head in Canada.
How on earth, is what anyone decides to do in their bedroom, or their existence in general, a threat to anyone else?
I abhor a bigot, yet their self-fart sniffing, trump flag (in canada, nonetheless) waving assess have just as much right to exist as everyone else (much to our chagrins).
I went to three pride events this month and two had extremist Jesus freaks on loudspeakers. Exactly three people in total. 😂😂😂😂
These hateful idiots are a fraction of a percent, and will continue to go away with time.
One way to make them really uncomfortable is to repeatedly ask why they don’t do anything about priests who molest kids. They squirm when confronted by that question.
