I understand that the solution will be always to use free( Open Source/Public Domain) stuff instead of Propietery stuff.

But in the cases where there is still not something free, is there is a list of companies which is fine with pirating their products aka don’t issue DMCA request whenever they see their products getting pirated?

It feels to me like you‘re saddling the horse from behind.

Most companies will not be okay with someone using their stuff, especially not if the person or company makes any money with it.

Instead, I would ask in what cases you dont have the company find out about it. Like, if you share movies, shows, etc. Do so in a country that doesnt comply with takedown requests etc.

But yes, you should rely on open source stuff as much as possible.

You are conflating the two meanings of free. Pirated software does not improve your freedom and open source is not necessarily free.

That being said I’ve seen a few indie game studios making pro-piracy statements or even putting the game on torrent networks themselves. But these are the one that deserve the most to be paid.

I can’t, I forgot most of it. But a little search returned some results:

But it’s also true that sometimes it’s not done with a pro-piracy stance but they would just rather have it pirated than bought through key-resellers as these can hurt indy-game dev a lot.

Ultrakill is one such game, and its dev basically said, “If you can’t afford my game, pirate it. Money shouldn’t be a barrier to the arts.”

Wube has encouraged people to pirate their game over buying key-resellers like G2A. G2A was such a legal pain in their ass for a period that they would rather you just pirate the game (being Factorio).
