A New York federal court has ordered the operators of shadow library LibGen to pay $30 million in damages and issued a broad injunction.

Here is your reminder to always use really free books sources ( Cretive Commons or Public domain) and to donate to them.

The owner of Libgen is Paul Boissel Dombreval, a Ukrainian citizen. Yeah, good luck finding this guy right now.

Is Libgen even an entity? What constitutes “Libgen”? I think there might be a way to make this claim invalid by a round-about shrug: “what’s libgen”?

Eh, that’s a bit different. The Russian state does carry out assassinations of critics.
