I adore hacker and torrenting culture. I seed terabytes of data per month and run a media server for all my friends and family. Seeing my torrent client upload speed saturated with hundreds of people from all over the globe is honestly a vibe.

Why don’t scene groups sign their releases with PGP?
Ahoy guys, I recently went to DL a TV show and found that ALL of its torrents had been abandoned, so I bought the DVDs, ripped them, and made my own. (Uploaded to a super old PB acc I had). It's been downloaded a few hundred times off my seeding alone. I got the torrent thrill and was thinking about doing this more. With fake torrents & impersonation being a thing, my first thought was to sign my files/releases/messages with a PGP, however, I can't think of a single time I've seen this happen in the wild. Does this go against a rule? Is it accepted that nobody would ever check so why do it? It seems like a really simple step that would make things easier for everyone. Very curious if anyone has any input, thanks.
