I am not an expert so I would highly recommend looking into more credible sources but my guess would be, since this is most likely not a very popular add-on, any browser with it would stand out considerably more relative to not having it.

Typically its common for browsers that want to reduce fingerprinting (tor, mullvad etc) recommend not installing new addons as then you stand out from crowd.

I’d say, since there are so many alternative ways to get this filter list, even if its a marginal increase in fingerprinting, its not worth installing it as an add-on.

I don’t think your giving people much credit. Anyone on here who can bind their VPN to their torrent client can easily handle this.

I mean the filter list github literally provides instruction. So does ublock, so does pretty much any DNS filtering service.

This isn’t rocket science. All it takes is like 2% effort.

Honestly if your going to use this, its better to just add the list to ublock, then add another extension which makes your browser more fingerprintable or, better yet, add the list to your pihole or DNS filter service.

I know sharing is caring but it should be said that if you dont plan on seeding anyway, mullvad is perfectly fine for torrenting.

I also think its worth mentioning that proton only supports ephemeral remote port forwarding which is objectively worse then airvpns implementation, if port forwarding is super important to you.

Real Debrid is probably the easiest solution.

From there you can either go the stremio route or plex / jellyfin.

I admit this is not a helpful answer but…

If you want to have hundreds of gigabytes or more of media storage plus backups, its going to be expensive. There is no secret cheap way.

This is what makes debrid options so appealing. You can amass terabytes of media data for a cheap monthly cost.

You can then supplement that with a small nas or drive of rare or hard to find media / offline selection in which case you could probably run raid 10 with the small amount that you would actually need to backup.

Even if it was, why screw over the people who are doing what you want? Price hikes arent hurting pirates lol.

This made me laugh. Anyone who has lived in central or south america sees this type of thing happen all the time.

Do this all the time with video games. Pirate to try before I buy. If I really like the game I buy it in the hopes it creates an incentive to make more games like the ones I like.

There are legitimate versions of windows that are hard to get as a non enterprise consumer. Such as some of the IOT versions that have much longer security support.

The bar for torrenting is super low. If all you want to do is avoid DMCA notices pretty much any VPN will do as long as you bind it to your torrent client.

In terms of Windscribe they have become a much more respectable VPN if you also want some privacy protections and DNS protections but there are better options.

They used to be a bottom dweller VPN selling off lifetime memberships for $30 in the mid 2000s but have really become a strong privacy advocate over the last few years.

Something can be shady and not a honeypot. It’s much more common. Its like people forgot this and now anytime anyone feels something is sus this type of post appears.

I was in middle school and I saw my friend had all the episodes of ATHF (aqua teen hunger force) and I wanted to be able to get free episodes of stuff. Silly but true.

You can therefore blame the mooninites for my piracy.

I use an optiplex for torrenting, Plex media server, and real debrid. The VPN is always on so I wouldn’t be concerned to use it as my daily driver but it’s a bit old to handle other tasks in use my daily driver for.

Yeah i should of specified. For me, specifically, i use windows but if people want to add links to other OS im sure someone would appreciate it.

This on reddit ended up being super helpful for my needs.

Real debrid + *arr suite for non docker users
Was hoping to get help finding a guide with more detail on setting up something like rdt-client for people who don't use docker. It appears like its very much possible but it seems like pretty much all guides assume the user is setting it up in docker. Currently have zurg and plex debrid setup with RD which works great but i find plex debrid a little lacking in being able to find what im looking for compares to using the *arr programs.
fedilink

What do you mean by premium? Not sure tpb was ever a “premium” torrent site.

If your just looking for other torrent sites to use, check the megathread.

I would add increasing the UAC or just not using an admin account, if your on windows, is also a very effective way to keep yourself safe as it will prevent a lot of malicious programs from automatically elevating their permissions.

Educational piracy is even more justified. Knowledge should never be paywalled.

I think plex + real debrid is also a pretty easy option. Auto downloads anything you add to your watchlist, unlimited storage.

Start with some of the easier to get into semi-private trackers such as MAM (books / audiobooks) and TorrentLeech (general) to build up some history. I can send you an invite to TL if ya need one just DM me.

You could also study the rules and join RED (music) but their wait times to actually interview are ridiculous. Its much easier to get into Orpheus which shares a lot of the same users, who are happy to upload on both.

Some of these have forums that you can use to get access to invites to more exclusive trackers.

Tldr; “I dont like how people use a term so i am going to make up a whole new definiton”

Passive resistance is a large part of civil disobedience. Civil disobedience does not need to be public.

I do agree with op, that downloading a movie to watch is not civil disobedience.

Its dead. Another project based on it source code might arise but it won’t be the same team and will take a while before it would be smart to trust the new project.

My guess is the most recent version of Yuzu, as a stand alone, will probably work for a long time anyway. So i guess there is that…

Yeah hard to say. I wouldn’t be surprised if Ryujinx gets hit next. It looks like the source code for Yuzu is, at the very least, saved on the wayback machine, so my guess is a fork will eventually pop up.

Saw this coming and made sure to update one last time. Ill probably just switch to Ryujinx at some point.

RIP Yuzu

Yeah, my big issue is the most common suggestion anytime i have an issue is to switch distros instead of an actual solution.

Linux users always so desperate to get windows users to switch over.

Until the user experience is not “spend hours on forums to find hacky fixes for things that just work on windows” its gonna be a tough sell.

Just don’t incriminate yourself on social media. Lemmy is not private or secure. Its silly for anyone to rely on dbzer0.

Also…

“The plaintiffs have always maintained that they don’t intend to pursue legal action against the targeted Redditors.”

Your probably to much of a small fish anyway…

Just like any lifetime guarantee, its guaranteeing access for the lifetime of the service (which could end at any moment) not your lifetime.

services that promise lifetime or forever accessability should be avoided.

I support ownership of stuff i buy.

Whether its physical or digital doesn’t matter. I probably prefer digital as computer related activities already produce a ton of physical e-waste.

Totally fair. I’m still a try it before i buy it type when games cost $60+ these days.
