I don’t know if I agree with you here. This isn’t as petty as you seem to feel it is. The cultural significance of her impersonation is big and it’s definitely news worthy. News is more than stabbings and explosions.

This whole scandal has blown my Canadian mind more than anything I can remember. She has done an impressive job of bringing attention to First Nations people, and indigenous people in Canada overall, her Piapot family clearly loves and claims her. BUT, she’s also literally a colonizing liar who has benefitted off the struggle of our indigenous people. It turns out she wasn’t an advocate at all but an identity thief. I feel like everything I ever knew was a lie. Next someone’s going to tell me stompin’ Tom kept women chained up in his basement. Frig.

The one factor they always neglect to discuss in this housing crisis is that … well, we are in a housing crisis. That means there is a substantial number of these evictions that are actually valid (granted there are also a lot of shit, scumbag landlords). But we all know someone struggling right now for housing. If you’re a boomer with an extra property, you probably also have a kid, or a nephew/niece or other younger person/family who is struggling with housing, and they need a place to stay, and they want to move in to these properties. This will only get worse as housing becomes less affordable.

I’m not saying this is the only reason, but it certainly contributes to the spike we are seeing in overall applications.

You know that it’s baking soda right ? A totally normal thing everyone has in their house. But too much of anything can be toxic. This in particular.

Well the Catholic Church didn’t have a lot to say about the nazis when all that shit was going down in the first place. And their record about other atrocities, particularly in Canada, is not great either. So maybe this lady should have just kept her fucking mouth shut. I hope they fire her.

I learned this not too long ago, that too much can legit kill you. I saw a post on that other stupid site about a dude who stopped his girlfriend from doing some tik tok challenge about it.

But that would be … humane. And charitably. Churches aren’t charities. They’re just businesses that don’t pay taxes. They’re not here to actually help people, people are here to help them fill their coffers.

I know a woman going through this right now. Last week he kicked her kids out of the house and they were forced to sleep in the car. She was afraid to leave them in the dark unattended so she slept on the porch to watch them. He had the nerve to come out and tell her she was making a spectacle for the neighbours and if she was going to sleep outside she should do it in the backyard so that the neighbours didn’t see. This was the night before her first day at a new job. Her last two jobs had similar incidents where he would wake her in the night screaming and deny her sleep so that she couldn’t perform adequately the next day. He controls their food, tells her he hates her, is always going insane about her kids making noise in their rooms (most times she goes up there and the kids are bloody sleeping - I think he also has delusions). Its appalling. Constantly threatening to throw them out into the street. Police won’t do anything because he’s not punching her and she’s trapped in a nightmare.
