Looking for content related to acting or acting classes. Any chance someone here has good video sources?
So... During covid lockdowns I pretty much didn't leave my house. I did contract work that required zero human interaction, my groceries were contactless pickup, and none of my hobbies required other people. I recently started a new job and my social skills are downright awful. What are you supposed to do with your hands when you talk? What facial expressions should you make? How is your voice supposed to sound? I did some internet research and found out I'm not the only one who lost their social skills after being isolated for 3 years. But anything I can find for advice is either generic/unhelpful, leads down the alt right rabbit hole, or is ungodly expensive. I'm hoping to find some basic introductory acting courses - voice training, method acting, improv, etc - that could help me stay flexible in conversations without freezing up. Is that possible? Are there any acting courses available to torrent?

So every time I get the “couldn’t load image, bad state” error, that’s a video? I thought that was an issue in the server side. @zach@bigfoot.ninja

Does anyone know where I could find VSTs or other music making plugins?
I haven't updated my music instrument library in years, especially since newer official software doesn't play well with pirated plugins. The last time I downloaded VSTs was 2012ish, back when PB and KAT were still good sources. Music technology (and the instruments people like to listen to) have taken a huge leap since then. I do mostly pop and jazz, so I've got East West, Session Horns, Session Strings, Broadway Big Band, Kontact, and a couple miscellaneous Native Instruments plugins. Does anyone know of production level VST sources for newer versions of these or better software?

Slightly unrelated, but I was just talking with a friend about how we’re going to have similar issues with young artists trying to copy ai. As is, many young artists will turn to cartoons instead of real life when starting out. Their work is a bastardization of a bastardization, with serious flaws in anatomy, gravity, light, and depth. They go on to call those mistakes their “style” and point to other artists making those same mistakes to normalize them. Since “style” isn’t something they think they need to improve on, they may become good artists overall while having severe, glaring holes in their skillet that any professional can see. You can sometimes even tell when someone started out because “90s anime” or “10s cartoon network” made specific stylistic choices that changed over time.

So I think ai is going to cause similar problems. Newbies will copy what looks pretty to the untrained eye and learn an ai based style. Then when they become more popular they’ll be fed into ai as reference material and perpetuate the problem. Even worse is actual professionals may turn to ai instead of real life references or a desk mannequin. Then their skills may degrade because they rely too much on improper tools. (I’ve already seen this becoming an issue with photoshopped reference photos.)

Anyways, that’s my $0.02
