Those jobs that got moved overseas, generally were replaced with much better jobs. Value added complex manufacturing, tech, service, research, healthcare. No one wants to mine coal or manufacture widgets. Of course some people slipped through the cracks and we have wealth inequality, so we should pay taxes (especially the rich) to fund a social safety net.

There has been so much proof of massive efforts by oil companies to suppress the information about climate change, but conservatives have managed to spin it into braindead narratives that Big Solar is pushing “climate alarmism” to make us reliant on China. CO2 isn’t a greenhouse gas anymore, it’s actually plant food. And every disaster is actually just “weather,” and has nothing to do with climate change. I hate this fucking world. I don’t think a wealth tax is smart. I think the current slate of billionaires that are aligned with fascism should be rounded up and executed. But I am pretty sure every economist agrees that a wealth tax doesn’t make any sense mathematically. People have a bunch of stock either because of founding companies or investing early, and then the public gets to buy the stock, if the public thinks a company is valuable the stock rises and people become wealthy. It doesn’t mean that they actually have that much money that they can deploy. I think it makes more sense to have rules that prevent people using their stock as collateral for loans.

Yeah, it was a setup, Trump basically admitted that it was a setup at one point saying “this is why I’ve allowed this to go on” or something along those lines. Zelensky was making his case using examples, and history, but trump and vance wouldn’t engage on the substance. They never do. They repeat their talking points that the magats love “you have no cards, people are being killed, you campaigned for the opposition,” it was fucking disgusting.
