Youtube for iOS without ads
Are there any safe, functional apps for iOS mobile devices (specifically iPhone, but iPad would be nice too) that let you use Youtube without ads? Something like what Youtube Revanced is for Android.

**EDIT: Oh, I'm dumb as hell. InstallShield was opening a new popup that for some reason appeared under all my other windows and didn't appear in the taskbar, so I didn't realize it was open. Once I finally noticed it dicking around trying to fix things, I clicked through and it installed fine.** I'm gonna leave a comment about it on myabandonware. Hey, all. I downloaded Zoo Tycoon 2 from myabandonware dot com. I understand that I need to mount the .bin files, go into the mock CD drives, and install them, but the installation wizard doesn't seem to work. I run setup.exe and get a popup saying that the game is setting up the InstallShield Wizard, and preparing to install. A loading bar loads up and the popup closes, and then nothing happens. There's no error message. If I check Task Manager, I can see that the InstallDriver module is still running, but taking up no CPU (see attached image). It hangs like this indefinitely. I tried running it as administrator, fixing corrupted system files, and re-registering Windows installer service. I'm running Windows 10, I can give more system info if necessary. Does anyone know what's going on and how to fix it?

Responding very late to say it’s called MonsterQuest - sorry, I thought giving the name would violate the rules of this lemmy instance. (is that the right terminology?)

Looking for obscure, older television
I know it's against the rules to request links to specific titles, but I assume it's okay to ask generally. (Still, let me know if this should be taken down.) I'm looking for sources of an obscure cryptid-hunting show from the 2000s. It's like popcorn to me, I just can't help watching it. I'm looking for recommendations of sites that might have it. Direct downloads, torrents, or streaming are all fine, I can make it work one way or another. It's available to stream with ads on Amazon, so I'm sure there's some pirated copies floating around out there.

Is movie-web down for anyone else?
Some time between early this morning and now, it stopped functioning; when I go to the website, it loads, but there's no content on it, just the background color. I'm bummed because it's the only place I could find to watch the show I was watching. :T

Oh my god, I totally thought 12ft.io was just for academic papers and journals. I tried it on The Atlantic (one of the worst in my experience) and it worked like a charm.

It has indeed been removed from Firefox’s add-on store. I’ll look at the alternatives you gave, thank you. :)

Getting around magazine paywalls
Do you folks have any tips on how to get around magazine and newspaper paywalls? It seems like the old tricks are becoming less reliable and it's frustrating - especially given paywalls seem to be becoming more stringent at the same time.

I’ve never used Usenet… I’m really not familiar with it, tbh. I just DDL or stream everything lol.

Ah, thank you! That makes a lot of sense. I’m broadly familiar with CDNs, so I figured they must all be using the same database, but I never made the step from that to “the sites themselves might have the same owners”.

Ah, and now I see where the miscommunication came from. I got all these sites from the r/Piracy megathread (which, I understand, is curated for safety and quality) and I browse with an antivirus and adblocker anyway. Sketchiness is not my primary concern, though I appreciate the recommendations. I’m just curious if anyone knows why they all look the same.

I’ll keep that in mind, but it is not an answer to either of my questions.

Pirate streaming services
This is kind of a weird question, I understand, but why does every pirate streaming service seem exactly the same? Let me explain: I was looking through the r/Piracy megathread (via rentry.co) for alternatives to Soap2day, now that it's gone down, and I noticed most websites had almost identical interfaces, and seemingly identical search results. Does anyone know what's up with that...? It creeped me out a little, I won't lie. Sort of uncanny valley. I also wanted to ask, what *is* the deal with Soap2day? I know soap2day.to is down. I've seen two websites thus far with the same name but different top-level domains, with totally different layouts and title blurbs. Are those like... legit? I don't know, I suppose it would be difficult to give me a virus via a streaming service (it's not like I go around clicking on ads) but, again, it's confusing and a little eerie. EDIT: To be clear, I'm not looking for recommendations. I am also not looking for alternatives to anything, I can sort myself out. I'm asking, out of curiosity, if anyone knows why these websites look so similar, and what's going on with soap2day clones.
