I take your point, except that it’s the PPS, and not the OPS that have jurisdiction on the hill.
According to the article, the RCMP apparently want them to be limited to checking bags for visitors.

I’m in favour of this. Not because I have any particular faith in the RCMP, but because I trust the OPS even less.
