65 per cent of Canadians say Canada is accepting too many legal immigrants. That figure, less than a year ago in February, was just 50 per cent. In March 2019, only 35 per cent of Canadians held that view.
Being a citizen does not make you any less of an immigrant. Being a descendant of immigrants also, surprisingly still makes you an immigrant. So perhaps we should stop talking about punishing immigrants as if it’s some new novel thing that’s causing all our ills. Immigration evidently worked for all of us, so let’s try not to sh*t all over the people that follow us. Immigration built Canada and, if you’ve noticed our birth rate over the past decade, without immigration, Canada will die. Frankly we need them more than they need us.
Oh, so several generations of my family were born here, we don’t have a single country of origin, (even if we knew it) doesn’t make me a natural born resident of my geographic area?

@HikingVet I first heard that , thrown as a taunt, at a small bridge crossing into Metepanagiag where a small blockade was assembled as a response to a commercial fishing lodge being put up at Curvington/Second Oxbow and some after skirmishes of the fisheries war. the comment may have also been thrown about around the lack of consultation during the failed Meech Lake Accord.

Maybe the indigenous alone should have the right to choose who they want to come as students, refugees, workers, and professionals; and who will be replaced.
