It’s a neat idea, but I feel that something like Magic Wormhole would be simpler and better for this.
I guess it’s convenient if everyone in the group is already using a torrent client.
Do you also need a special setup on clients to use wormholes? Or just a http link?
Destiny is an easy to use client for it, works on all platforms.

Destiny uses the magic wormhole protocol but unlike typical magic wormhole clients it is easy to use on all platforms.
Looks like they have an even easier to use web app.
Although it’s limited to single files under 200 MB.
Ah, weird the webapp would be limited when the local app isn’t.
