I hope this post does not break the rules, last year I ran Lemmyvision a song contest on Lemmy, and I’m excited to announce that the second edition is now live! You’re invited to participate by sending a song in any official or regional language / dialect from Canada !
Given the multilingual aspect of your country, I’m open to multiple submissions (one for each language you’d like to represent, so Inuktitut, French Canadian, any First Nations languages are welcome) from lemmy.ca, just mention which language is linked to which submission 🤗
For those not in the loop, here’s how it works:
TL;DR
From right now and until April 1st, discuss with your country’s community on Lemmy about which song to send to the contest.
Submit the song in this community by making a new thread.
On April 2nd, voting will begin, where you will rank your favourite songs in a form. Any song not submitted by this date will not be featured.
On April 8th, results of everyone’s favourite songs will be published.
You can use !lemmyvision@jlai.lu for any question, this will be the community for updates and results, make sure to subscribe if you’d like to stay in the loop.
Maybe not this time around since you’ve already got all the rules in place but maybe a future one you could expand it to regions of Canada? It’s a big enough country that I feel you could do that. For example, eastern Canada (especially Newfoundland but also Nova Scotia and maybe other Atlantic provinces, I’m not 100% sure) have a very different culture than the rest of Canada, and I’m sure western Canada could be similarly different. Just a thought if you wanted to change things up in a future one. I’d imagine the States would be similar too
I’m pretty lenient on rules and last year someone from the US asked something similar with states, given how big Canada is, I think it’s fair ! You can submit one song per region for this edition,if you guys want 🤗
