Hey all,

While browsing around youtube, I found This video, which is about a 96 TB hard drive with “every game ever”, and it really…looks like it has an absolute tonne of games. This is a link to the store, and it’s mega pricey, but with everything pre-loaded, configured and organized, it kind of seems like a steal (har har).

I know there are other products like this around on Amazon, AliExpress and in and around the internet that have similar collections, but this one seems to be the real deal with regards to the sorting and organizing and setting up, which, frankly, I’m sure you guys all know takes a ton of time. So my question is: have you bought something like this in the past? What did you think about it? What do you think about projects and products like this?

I don’t believe for a minute that this person has truly tested every game they claim to have on that thing, much less optimized.

You can download clean ROM sets of just about everything on their list with essentially zero effort, and the difficulty of setting up emulators is super overblown most of the time, especially with options like EmuDeck becoming more mature.

That site also seems super-sketch, but that may just be the fact that English is clearly their second language, which isn’t a fair indicator of quality.

That absolutely screams scam. Bad English, claims to run everything ever made, from a 96 terabyte hard drive?

The only thing this will be any good at is parting a fool from their money.

a 100tb ssd costs $40k, and the largest hdd’s you can buy come in at 22tb.

Man I can’t believe I read “96 TB Hard Drive” and didn’t fucking blink. That’s an entire red flag convention, with a parade to show off every conceivable shade of red.

Having skimmed through the video the 96tb version is a multi drive enclosure full of 16tb disks

Don’t get suckered in by these, but instead look up a site like arcade punks that’ll let you download images that are similar in nature, just bring your own hard drive. There’s loads for loading up a raspberry pi with, all preconfigured for you.

I didn’t know about arcade punks! Great site - though a little bit intimidating on first view for a newbie to the scene. A bit of a long-shot, but do you know of any good starter guides for a non expert, who at least has some understanding of the space (aka someone who has been amateurishly setting up collections and playnite libraries for a few years)?

The appeal to me of even considering something like the beast is that someone has pre-organized and optimized, which, for someone who has attempted to organize a collection for a bit, seems like it would take an agonizing amount of time. Anything you could point me towards would be appreciated!

Honestly if you’re familiar with setting up collections and libraries yourself, then these kinds of things should be pretty straightforward. There’s loads of RPi specific images that are quite literally “get a big enough sd card, use etecher to burn this image onto it, plug it in and away you go”. There’s some slightly more complex setups that let you plug in external drives but they tend to come with instructions specific to them.

This is one of the strangest scams I’ve seen, what is the world coming to when there’s a buyer for this? Dystopian cyberpunk realness, that’s what
