This is at the discretion of your local vendors. Some places in my area stopped selling them altogether rather than raise the price. I think Arizona had to take the 99¢ branding off the can because it doesn’t work in a lot of markets. Places in my area will have them as cheap as 79¢ but it’s obviously a loss leader.

I thought I was the only one who did this. It’s the only way I feel 100% secure.

No way we’re downloading the same repacks, it’s rare to see anything as small as fitgirl’s releases in my experience. Your CPU had better be ready to step up to the plate though.

Seconded, I didn’t realize how bad Win 10 has gotten because I’ve used LTSC since Win 7. A far more bearable experience.

Much like international waters, its always required a bit of watching out for your own well being.

Maybe this is the use case I’m not understanding. Do many people have servers that they just keep software they’re not using on? I mean this makes sense with movies and maybe music, but I feel like I’ve never heard of this with games and such.

I’m having a very hard time understanding what this does for me that lutris doesn’t already.

If the second one is true, even in a subjective sense, I’m honestly just impressed. I mean, if it works, it works.

Demand is what causes Supply. Somewhere out there is someone with the skill to crack Denuvo, but no need to, because this lunatic is already doing it. And being the competition means being on empress’ radar, which is really something a sane person would not want.

Man I can’t believe I read “96 TB Hard Drive” and didn’t fucking blink. That’s an entire red flag convention, with a parade to show off every conceivable shade of red.

Out of everything they could have chosen, I could not have expected that. It’s a poor choice but I still laughed heartily.

Mods! Seize and banish this lubber! He confesses that he partakes not in the maritime plunder of merchant vessels!

I’m going to make the switch to Linux

one of us

Seriously, though, it’s easier than ever.

Because Windows is known to be malicious spyware, and you should consider not tolerating it any longer.

You’re in the right place to learn, you’ll have your sea legs one of these days.

I organize all my games with Lutris, and my music library with Sayonara (the closest thing I’ve found to the era of Winamp I knew and loved). I don’t have enough stuff to require any further automation.

I’m not downloading things for the sake of having them to share. It’s a narrow intersection between things that I want, and things that I have the space to keep. Because of this, you and I might have different definitions of niche. And my connection wouldn’t be stellar even if it weren’t being sent across an ocean through a VPN. But I try to give more than I get.

Yeah, it sure can, but most of the stuff I’m dealing with is older or niche. I have one that’s about to hit two months still sitting at 0.96. True to my word, though, I’ve bumped up ratios across most of what I have.

I think people with that mentality largely already have, they’ve just done it here because they understand the community and discussion are the value. I don’t think many people clinging this hard to reddit are going to be the type to pilot new communities.

Absolutely grade-A username, my dude. Also, if you haven’t, consider joining us at !patientgamers@sh.itjust.works or !patientgamers@lemmy.ml. I only just learned about one of those because of some kind of new autocomplete feature for federated communities.

I should go.

If you don’t have the space to be able to keep things around, that’s understandable, but less than 1.00 is considered to be leeching and is frowned upon. You’ve given back less than you’ve taken. I consider 2.00 a fair minimum, as you’ve returned twice as much as you’ve received to the ecosystem. 3.00 when and where you can is more than most will do, I think.

2.00 for anything I download and isn’t broken or garbage

5.00 for anything small, popular, or that I’m passionate about

Probably going to bump that up higher for some things, it’s been slow lately

I only recently got the ability to seed long-term and privately. I don’t bother with private trackers and don’t expect I ever will. That’s partially because I don’t care about new shows or movies, and partially because I don’t like exclusionary communities. My setup is virtualized, not on dedicated hardware, so I don’t have a lot of space to throw at this. I’m a small fish in a big pond and I focus on keeping alive things that I’ve enjoyed.

Lemmy needs to have people willing to put up with the rough edges and build functioning communities before it will become a desirable alternative to one of the largest websites on the modern internet. Rome was not built in a day, friend.

Perfectly valid. I used to use TPB a lot back in the day but now I find pretty much everything I want on 1337x.

I’m sorry, I’m not plugged in enough to give you the rundown. Certainly plenty of people still use it without issue but last time I tried, I could only access it through mirrors. I also vaguely recall them only offering magnet links when my setup requires .torrent files for reasons that aren’t worth getting into because I expect they’re weirdly specific to my setup.

I wouldn’t deny or argue that. I was under the impression that it just had more pitfalls than other sources these days, which led to it no longer being the go-to source it once was.
