This must have been before my time. My generation was all about Café Des Rêves.

Téléfrancais in school was pretty funny. It was the last kid show I watched by many years, and I wasn’t old enough for it to feel ironic or meta etc, but it was on par with my poor French skills. I remember the character named L’anana, which sounded like a scat fill in 50s doo wop song to me, and the intro which sang the show’s praises “c’est magnifique… c’est incredible”
Without watching that video all I have to say is:
Parlez avec nous!
I’m Québécois, never heard of it! Fascinating.
Oh! It was made by TV Ontario to help teach French and was used in some Quebec/Ontario schools
It’s really cool for kids
I talk about ananas all the time
I’ve never heard of it. At home, we watched “Chez Hélène” (heh. I still remember the correct accents because they remind me of a surprised face). Anyway Wikipedia: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chez_Hélène
Absolutely. It’s why I know how to say pineapple in French. And like… nothing else.
My kids still watch Telefrancais in school.
Kids will be watching Telefrancais until the tapes disintegrate
People have uploaded all the episodes to YouTube now.
It’s just not the same though. The true experience is watching it on a TV/VCR on a cart that the teacher wheeled in.
I did immersion, so no.
I know the “normal” side of the school watched the series, and the stoners loved it
Really? I was in immersion and we had to suffer through this in Gr 1 and 2. I think it’s responsible for my childhood fear of skeletons.
Les ananan ne parle pas!
