Time to jump ship from Google products?

Need an account to read the full article. Anyone have access? I was wondering if this is a privacy concern or if they mean general data? And why the government would need it?

They did the original reporting AFAICT, I seem to recall the whole article being free, but I understand they’re now paywalling :-(

I hate them, but what’s the point in stopping using them for this reason? Govts will ask whatever provider for data they want…
