New rules target corporate claims about environmental plans and activities, not just products

Given the background of reactionary politics and climate inaction, this is a neat story. These 3 MPs worked together, and their amendment was passed unanimously, I think, in parliament. More of this please

Yeah, it’s nice to hear they can still get things done, if they’re (a) motivated and (b) not being whipped by their leadership.

What companies so often fail to remember is that they are a fiction that only exists in the real world because of government policies and legislation.

And that means that a company has to behave how the government wants; any people who disagree are free to not incorporate.

This does mean that the loophole is to get individuals to make the greenwashing claims instead of the corporations— but then they have no legal protections against personal lawsuits based on how they lie and mislead.

About time the corporations have to deal with their responsibilities and not just their rights.
