I think traffic manager is mandatory to be included in the base game to address traffic issues

Building a pedestrian over or underpass is another story entirely, had to force the game to do it and even then I somehow managed to place a path that looked like it was going through the roundabout, but somehow it wasn’t

Also, I hope they address the fact that demand for my city is always insane

I hope the economy 2 patch actually does that and doesn’t break the economy further, I am glad they’re doing something about it.

I am not sure, I don’t know if it has, I assume not. And I can’t time travel so even if it hadn’t I can’t say “game is fixed” when it’s not.

When did you last play? I literally just played the game and sometimes just didn’t place some services- I think a good tip rn is just advance from a small city quickly, as later in the game it’s broken and gives you unlimited money as your people somehow make insane amounts of money. But in the early game advancing is your friend to gain cash from the advancements

I managed to make this much income with a tiny city within hours of booting up the game again, I don't know what they did, but it seems they broke the economy so hard it's now TOO easy to make money.

That means you’re doing it right.

Why does Lemmy only have one frontend?
I saw a post today from beehaw's admin talking about the new UI? Why are we limited to the UI being as it is? Why aren't there alternative hostable Lemmy frontends?
fedilink

I don’t know every time I’ve tried to change a beast like that, it was hard and frustrating.

Does hexagonal architecture make things worse?
I looked into the lemmy src, and what is supposed to be a CRUD API has several layers of abstraction. Same at work, where we have hexagonally structured apps where following any sort of logic is literally impossible. What are your thoughts?
fedilink

I mean not on my personal server, my personal server keeps dying all the time and I got tired of it. I haven’t looked into the logs. But I meant with the recent influx of reddit users, I saw beehaw and lemmy.ml also have 500 errors.

Isn’t caddy battle tested too? And looking into alternatives is not really a waste of resources. It just feels like nginx is not as reliable and likes to drop requests. It’s not just a load balancer, mind you.

It does actually, NGINX likes to drop connections when it gets overwhelmed, Caddy prefers to slow down the connection and respond when it can.

Thank you for apologizing, I feel better now.

I think there are, but there would need to be testing done, on the surface it seems to be a much simpler proxy than nginx. And doesn’t use the same architecture as Nginx

While I can’t speak for others, I’ve found NGINX to have weird issues where sometimes it just dies. And I have to manually restart the systemd service.

The configuration files are verbose, and maybe caddy would have better performance? I hadn’t investigated it much

EDIT:

Nginx lacks http3 support out of the box

I've recently been wondering if Lemmy should switch out NGINX for Caddy, while I hadn't had experience with Caddy it looks like a great & fast alternative, What do you all think? EDIT: I meant beehaw not Lemmy as a whole
