Was demoing a thing internally, and the higher up asks if the NPC was AI driven.

It’s all pretty basic behaviour we programmed in, follow but not too close. When I point, go there and wait till I’m done doing my thing. A couple other things.

But my PM said “no, it’s just got some basic rules”… and I’m like bro, it’s arguably AI. Just say it’s AI.

I live in a mid rise apartment with big beautiful windows, and light mode is easier to read in a bright ass room. And I don’t need to deprive myself of sunlight be working in a pitch black basement office, I’m depressed enough as it is.

Just explaining my situation, in a mid-lit room I could go either way. Dark room -> dark mode

Sounds like another skill issue, why aren’t you the CTO? Not throwing around enough buzz words

Make another meme, maybe like that “days without an accident” counter…. Except it’s months without going over cloud budget

Then tell him that you made it, and that it’s true.

Ok, definitely something to worry about when I’m that valuable of a target.

What’s the risk here? Isn’t the chance of collision so low that it’s virtually impossible for someone to create a malicious payload that has the same hash as the original file?

The keys I found were on a website linked from a website posted to a Reddit sub. And they were base64 encoded for obscurity

Lol, but seriously… licensing costs the license holders nothing… but it does costs spotify something.

2 ebooks could easily be >15hours. OP sounds like a bullshitter to me. I don’t see how they could come to the conclusion that “its also counting time listened during my paid-for ebooks”. They could provide more info, but they arent. I think they just got mad that they couldnt finish the last 20 minutes of the book (understandably) and decided to flame spotify

I saw some avant garde shit the other day, and there it was on spotify. Everyone is on spotify

Honestly, like… who isn’t on spotify? I think Metallica was holding out, but there on there now, and looks like Garth Brooks is also holding out. No one else I’ve ever looked up, including very small artists, were not on spotify.

Theres an iOS app too… only available via testflight, and I don’t recall where the link is… but its out there.

First week of hits are free, and I’ll give you another week of free hits every month. So as long as you don’t need more than 1 week per month of hits, then you’re golden.

Honestly though, if OP really got 27 days into the cycle before using up his free hits, its almost a perfect solution for them.

Ok, thats funny. But for real, what I’m lightly annoyed by is the way they seem to be using the 15 hours of audiobooks as a sort of free-trial to get you to buy more credits, and also how much podcasts and audiobooks are pushed even for those of us who exclusively use spotify for music. On the other hand, if you use the feature, it cost you nothing additional to use up to that 15 hours, or those free books, its strictly a value add.

Oh man, I did the hard work (it was easy) of reading some rules and answering some questions via irc to get an invite to MAM and wow is that a treasure-trove of ebooks and audiobooks.

Of that list, BBB is apparently more of a business extortion scene. But consumer reports seems cool, I’ve used their site a few times.

The rest, I’ve never heard of

Mine just doesn’t auto-install with windows, on new machines / windows installs I have to go out of my way to manually download and apply the drivers to get it working. But hey, ~14 years of printing for $100 ain’t bad

For project ideas, I think most of us start with a problem and learn how to solve it. But without some foundational knowledge, you may struggle to even realize what’s a solvable problem.

You should maybe start with something like Linus Tech Tips “techquickie” content. Look at tutorials for home servers and home labs.

Or just spin around with your eyes closed, and point at a random tech object in your home, then start searching for info on how that works. How you can customize it, fix it, break it, make your own.

Not sure how else to help you jumpstart what many of us have just been naturally doing our whole lives. Like… be curious. That’s the key actually. Curiosity.

Roku really should not sell most of their cheapest options, they’re very bad, while the top of the line Rokus are very solid.

I was using HDDs, and I believe it may have been a little less of an issue bc I had Unraid configured to keep the drives spun up (I’ve read the spin up is hard on the drive, not so much the time being spun up)

But I did occasionally have some IOWait issues. Reds plus a NVME cache has resolved all those issues.

WD Green /shrug

I’ve been using all Red Pros since I first built my nas, but it started with a couple of green 2TB that where in there for like 7 years before being replaced (didn’t die yet)

Ha, busted! Yes, that was ChatGPT’s advice. But hey, let’s not give all the credit to our AI overlords just yet. They might be stealing our jobs, but at least they can’t steal our snark… for now. Besides, everyone knows real human communication involves at least three sarcastic remarks and a poorly timed joke. Speaking of which, have you heard the one about the software developer who walked into a bar? They left because they couldn’t find any ‘bugs’ to fix.

I understand your concerns about the article’s quality. I found that it presents some interesting perspectives on software development, although some points might not be clearly articulated. It’s always valuable to critically assess any content we come across, especially in the rapidly evolving field of software development. Do you have specific aspects of the article you disagree with or find lacking in clarity? I’d be interested in hearing more about your perspective.

Idk if you meant to, but you came across really rude. Anyway…

You’ve got a point about creating but not using the cracks, that does leave the question of when it’s ethical to release it. Immediately for those with region locks or whatever that prevents them from normally acquiring it? Wait till it’s no longer available anywhere? Try to region lock your crack?

Also my comment was not advocating for stealing, it was advocating for ensuring your ownership rights asap after purchase.

I think if more people took that path, pirate only when you actually have a problem, much less content would be cracked and piratable.

Imagine OP and someone who is capable of cracking a software both bought and used this app, then 3 years later the app stops working. OP goes to look for a crack, but one doesn’t exist because the person who would have made it happened to stop using it before they had a need to crack it. So now OP is just boned.

So I say, always pirate everything and do so asap. And then obviously, if you want things to keep being produced, you should probably support the creators.

Weird, I wonder what the issue was. I’ve not had this happen to me with Spotify. Did w Zune back in the day, bc you had to connect to WiFi or a computer every so often to renew the drm license

Definitely agree, but according to a recent video, his girlfriend is a privacy nut (said with respect) so idk if he’s gonna get any better. Next thing we know there’ll be two of them in the videos.

How do you deal with only 1 Ethernet port?

Vlan to managed switch? USB Ethernet adapter?

Also, is this powerful enough for a symmetrical 1gig connection?

Ugh, I want to build an opnsense router but I can’t go spending unnecessarily until I find a job.

Anyone hiring an IT admin and/or software engineer in the Portland area?

Unraid works well for me, everything is in docker containers, and I imagine I could move them elsewhere if needed. But over the past few years that’s not been necessary.
