Key difference is that they’re making (alot of) money of off the stolen work, and in a way that’s only possible for the already filthy rich

Wouldn’t mind it personally if it was foss though, like their name suggests

Yeah I really hope they show the total shared user counts for comms on all instances; you currently have to do that through Lemmyverse.net, which is not user friendly at all.

It’s already been opened as an issue on the github though, and I think this needs to be implemented asap

Doesn’t mean much; vlemmy is a pretty normal general instance.

It’s best to recommend vlemmy.net, lemm.ee, and reddthat.com to new users though imo to prevent strain on the bigger servers

Yeah Lemmy really needs a shared user count across all instances for proper discoverability.

Already opened as an issue on the GitHub, and needs to be added asap imo

I remember reading and using this exact guide on reddit! Made it very simple.

Thank you for your service 🙏

wefwef.app, Thunder, Connect, and Liftoff are already amazing btw. Boost for Lemmy and Sync for Lemmy are in the works.

Jerboa actually gives off RiF vibes for me, though it’s definitely still its own thing.

On pc use this to make it look a bit more like old.reddit. I hope tweaks like this get combined into a single extension later like RES

Fyi the real member count is almost 20k; the sidebar only shows how many are subscribed to it from your instance.

It shows 360 from vlemmy.net for example.

Dev said he just came up with it randomly lol

He made a post on !wefwef@lemmy.world about a possible name change, and some people are suggesting Voyager> wefwef

The one complaint I have is the lack of a native app; it doesn’t run as smoothly as the other Lemmy clients do on my phone.

It’s already amazing on my tablet though!

Most people coming to a piracy sub would know what forums are, and by now have probably heard of Lemmy already

It opening back up before the big wave of users on July 1st is also very unfortunate.

Subs should stay in protest at least until a week after Sync for Lemmy and some of the many apps in development release in a few weeks imo

I don't know if the mods of this comm even *have* any control over the sub anymore after the admin intervention, but I think this would be the most reasonable outcome. It's currently listed as the fallback forum, which is a damn shame because the sub is a big source of users; it's why I moved too. **People who do want a better alternative with 3rd party apps can only move if it's properly listed**. Listing it even as a sister community would be better than what it is right now.

I’ve actually had lemmy results come up in google the last few days sometimes, so maybe more people just need to use it.

Granted, those questions were lemmy related, but it’s a start

The mod tools are basically moving here too, with Sync for Lemmy and Memmy (Apollo-like), so it shouldn’t be an issue by the time comms get actually big enough to worry about.

That’s one of the main reasons we’re moving here in the first place.

Community mods also don’t need to host an instance; they’ll just make them in an instance that’s tangentially related to their topic, as some already are (like mine), or a general instance.

I wouldn’t count on it being the latest reddit Sync tier on the first release

But I have no doubt it’ll get there eventually, after some updates.

The instance itself is run by the head mod though; I’d say it’s much better than relying on a company that might shut down the sub any time

If you’re on iOS you can join the testflight on the github to use the app already.

On android, you need to build it yourself for now, or wait (a few weeks probably?) until it’s fully released on the playstore.

Yeah people are not spreading the word about these fantastic apps coming to Lemmy as much as they should

We’re just getting started. Sync for Lemmy and Memmy’s (heavily inspired by Apollo) release in a few weeks will go a long way for accessibility, and will likely already offer better UX than reddit.

No doubt contributors in the GitHub will add similar UX features as those fantastic apps once they’re out.

I am too lol but I prefer a platform that isn’t getting worse and worse every day.

Wait for Sync for Lemmy and Memmy (Apollo inspired) to come out in a few weeks and this’ll already be a better experience than reddit on mobile

Live in a third world country and all software is free software. No strings attached

Exactly. I was active in the sub for a few days after the move, inviting them to Lemmy, but found it exhausting. Though it did help those confused it seems.

I’m happy here; things will only get better when Sync for Lemmy and Memmy fully release.

Hell yeah, it got alot of people to Lemmy.

I’m very curious how reddit will handle it; they would probably hesitate openly supporting a piracy sub by putting in new mods

It might be better to refer to it by its full name (!piracy@lemmy.dbzer0.com) so it doesn’t get confusing for new users, since alot of us are seeing this from other instances, some of which have their own /c/piracy.
