I can third it. It totally feels like you’re playing an RTS but without having to study build orders and practice your micro.

If anyone out there has never played Minecraft with a group you have got to give it a shot. Exploring and building together is really so much fun, it can’t be understated!

Usually I get a few friends to play on a realm or something but they always lose interest after a couple weeks. I just joined a more regular playgroup with a well maintained server, though, and it’s some of the most fun I’ve ever had in Minecraft.

I love me an underrated Bug superstar. In Black I used a Leavanny as mine and it cleaned house. When I played Omega Ruby my Masquerain carried my team and took me totally by surprise.

And God forbid you look for anything involving troubleshooting your home network. Good luck sorting through pages and pages of the same copy and pasted article telling you how to restart your router.

The half life games are right at the limit for me in terms of scary video games. They tread the line just enough imo. I think it’s because it’s not just horror the whole time, there’s tons of non scary puzzles and gun-slinging going on to cool down.

Yeah the irony is that the Fallout games have some of the best environmental storytelling in all of gaming but without storytelling storytelling it’s just like white noise lol

My girlfriend and I played through the quest line of where we started in Morrowind (I think?) and had a blast, but once we left we were totally lost! I was really engrossed with the story but all of a sudden we’re just doing something completely different. I was quite disappointed and it left me wondering if we had done something wrong or out of order.

If you like Rimworld the Pete Completes series is pretty good. He puts a narrative focus on his playthroughs which makes them super watchable!

Totally stoked for this! I’ve been craving a good mech game for so long. Pity the Gundam franchise can’t get a decent game.

Toads Turnpike, Wild Woods, and the FZero tracks should all be way higher!

The fact that botw and Mario Odyssey came out in the same year is wild. What a great year. Plus Nier on top of that? Damn.

Been super into Minecraft lately! What are you all building?

I have never interacted with one of those chat bots that didn’t lead to me just speaking to a representative anyway. Why the extra steps.

When is your top ten list of boomer shooter lists coming out?

Dawn of War is so iconic. I hear the unit quotes in my head so clearly.

I went into Undertale completely blind and played a couple of hours before I realized you could get through every encounter without killing anything. I kind of gave up after that because I felt so bad.

Ogre Battle on the SNES is the original auto-battler. I would really recommend Ogre Battle 64 though, not only is it one of the very few RPGs on the system but it’s got really unique gameplay. It’s got its flaws but I’m such a sucker for the character designs and job/class system that it’s still my favorite game to this day.

I love this game! Always loved how the dog changed to match the setting.

Just going to be that guy here but Fallout is neither forgotten nor a cult classic.

Edit just to be more productive: Arcanum is a classic isometric RPG that fits the post much more accurately imo.

I had no real expectations going in and it’s still one of my favorite games.

Kinda reminds me of the road blocks they use in Pokemon games. “We dance for no reason, we’ll disappear for no reason”

Wow TIL! Will save a lot of copying and pasting in the future lol.

Yeah! I’ve seen a lot of people give it some undeserved grief but I agree, it’s a fantastic game! Totally agree with you about Ritz.

Those Logitech controllers are actually pretty decent. I’ve had one for ages and it’s still going strong.

What game is improved the most by mods?
I know most of the Bethesda RPGs have massive mod support, and there's games like Minecraft that have more mods than anyone can imagine. I would consider those games pretty playable in their vanilla states. Would you say there are any games that were "saved" by modding? Or that are still kept alive by thriving modding communities? What are some of your favorite mods?
