Yeah, admittedly, those two things are annoying.

I haven’t personally experienced the adblocker thing though, I suspect it’s not intentional, but I’m purely speculating there.

The censoring thing I have run into, and it is very irritating, so I’m with you on that.


Their account deletion policy aside, Crunchyroll is like one of the last remaining bastions of solid streaming for a very reasonable price that hasn’t increased in many years.

There’s plenty of streaming services to cancel and switch to piracy on legitimately, I don’t personally believe Crunchyroll to be one of them.

Because they’ve benefited significantly from the results. Generational wealth for white Americans is significantly higher than black Americans because of this very thing.

They want to keep that flowing and avoid being told that they’ve had a leg up on almost half the population because of what their ancestors did.

I’d be fine with Reddit making money, if they did it in an honest and predictable way. The way they’re going about it though is short sighted, deceitful, and completely unnecessary.

They could make money hand over fist if they just tweaked their approach a tad, kept the community happy, etc.

Bundle API usage in with Reddit Premium. Have it use upper limits of say 100k requests/month to the API. Anything over that and it’s on a per 10k/requests billing cycle sort of thing.

Push the cost to the consumer, so if AI wants to scrape all the data, they can pay for it just like everyone else.
