I get people preferring one platform over another. What I don’t understand is platform loyalty/tribalism. It makes no sense. Just enjoy your games!

Nintendo never really did complicated. Can’t imagine them doing a battery warning with features you can turn on/off.

If that was the case though, I would have expected them to have announced it already 🤔. Nintendo doesn’t strike me as the kind of company to show their hardware to the press long ahead of announcement.

Showing it to devs/publishers I can understand. Why would they be showing it to press though?

Isn’t this a GDPR requirement if enough time passes without account activity?

How do you know if you like them if you haven’t tried them 😋?

We’ll, excuse me 🤣…

I don’t tag them with anything.

I think this is what the commenter above is getting at. You say you want to play the game, but “dnf” means “did not finish” which alludes closer to just checking it off a list.

My list is basically my library. I only buy games if I want to play them (I don’t bother redeeming free games if I don’t intend to play it). That said, just because I want to play a game doesn’t guarantee I end up enjoying it. The great perhaps is one such game. Thought it was for me, didn’t enjoy it, so won’t bother finishing it.

My backlog consists of games I’ve bought because I want to play them. But because there’s always something on offer I end up buying more than I can get through. So this will be a way to stop myself spending money when I already have enough games to get me through to the end of this year. If I find I’m not enjoying one of them, I’ll mark it “dnf” and hide it from my library. So I’ve absolutely no plan to play a game if it turns out to not be any fun.

A Misguided Guide To Finishing Your Gaming Backlog
Found this video really interesting as I have a relatively large backlog myself. Fortunately not nearly as large as this one. Personally, I've only ever considered games I own to be part of my backlog, which makes my list much more manageable. That said, I have a large number of unplayed games on both Steam and GoG. So to start I've decided to play all my GoG games first (as that is still within reach). I've promised myself not to buy any more games untill all my GoG games are either completed or marked "did not finish" due to it not being my thing.

Yeah, im going with this one. Even if it takes a company a total of 5 hours work to wrap an old game in an emulator and release it on steam, it’s not going to be worth it when only 5 people buy it.

I just switched to only buying games on GoG. Yeah, i dont have the same selection and miss out on a lot of games, but there are enough quality games on GoG to fill my backlog.

Yeah, but it doesn’t seem like he actually said that if you read the article.

I just want a phpBB forum ☹️. So tired of services like discord being used as a “forum”.

CDs in current gen physical copies aren’t really much more than a license to download anyway considering many require a gigantic day 1 patch to play. So the CD doesn’t really give you anything anymore (except I guess you could lend it to a friend).

Oh. Now I feel bad. I’ve bought keys a few times from such sites assuming they just bought them in bulk for resale ☹️

How does this work? How are the keysellers able to make keys that cost the developer money?

They’ve finished the island.exe which admittedly was a small endeavour, but does mean a few simple fixes are possible. Such as removing the now unnecessary delay before the game intro, and the window bar.being visible at the top of the screen.

I always wondered why one of the jet ski opponents was constantly shaking. Maybe MattKC will be able to answer that.

For anyone who played this as a kid, this video is really fascinating. Hope he keeps it up.

Horizon Zero Dawn is on offer. So is Cyberpunk 2077.

Best split-screen PC games with controller support
I'm looking for some fun PC games I can play with my wife/nephews. I'm therefore looking for PC games that support split screen with controller support. Any genre, but preferably games that can be played by someone no older than 12. Will be playing them on a ROG Ally connected to a TV with xbox controllers. Interested in any genre.

I honestly don’t think the fediverse will become nearly as popular as many seem to.think. It’s still complicated to use/understand for many non-tech enthusiasts, and in the case of Reddit, while people are angry, I doubt most of their users are going anywhere any time soon. Some will leave, but it’s not going to be a small number.

We keep going on about how Reddit relies on it’s “creators”, without whom they’ll die. Frankly, a lot of the highest rated content is just repost of old videos or tiktok videos. A lot of that stuff isn’t original, and the deep conversations are, in my opinion, few and far between. Sure there are some communities whi h have this, but they’re not exactly over represented.

Games like the original Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon
Wondering if there are any good games out there which play like the original Rainbow Six/Ghost Recon games. Games where tactics are completely necessary to survive, and one shot will kill you. Only looking for single player experiences.
