It’s not crappy and it doesn’t suck. Products should reflect living wage labor costs.

If you can only afford one ethical item instead of ten fast fashion ones, it’s a good thing. Value your stuff, learn to repair it, maybe help turn back this trend of wearing a new thing every day.

Just because it’s weird to you doesn’t make it any less valid.

As a species we sit at the threshold of artificial life, created by us. Seems silly to think that such a monumental jump would not be accompanied by substantial changes in our made up rules of engagement.

It’s basically just fueling your own ego as a result of a situation like this.

Every pitchfork mob situation is about ego stroking ultimately. It’'s outgrouping, them vs us. And people with prejudices find it just so perfect to spew their bullshit and get some validation. It’s why racists love yellow media.

I don’t know the truth in this situation and for all I know this guy (and his entire crew for that matter) could be horrible people. But to base that off of prejudice is childish, and I’m sad that it’s infecting beehaw.

this video is unmonetized.

Doesn’t mean it’s not a growth based move. Unmonetized means no ads right? And you still get the exposure.

This is judging a book by its cover. Not really helpful to any discussion.

Linus takes all criticism on LMG as a personal attack regardless of his involvemen

I mean, AFAIK he built that company off the ground - yes likely privileged, I saw a video where it’s mentioned he and his partner lived rent free in his dad’s house. And yes, likely not alone. But still.

Makes sense he’d see criticisms of the company as attacks that he needs to personally take on. It’s not the best approach, but totally understandable. Lots of people’s livelihoods at stake by now, too.

So massively increasing the carbon footprint will help us decrease carbon footprint?

This action makes no sense at all beyond financial interests of a tiny minority, and is like spitting in the face of all the people suffering from the consequences of climate change.

some jobs depend on creating the shiniest powerpoint presentation in the world

Basically all consulting everywhere.

I started using git at his insistence (which I hated because I wanted to own the project and he was a more impressive dev than me), and I started to like it. Switched all my other projects to git as well.

Reminds me of a snip from The Winner: be a leader, but if you can’t be a leader, make sure your leader is a damn good teacher

It’s a jump from a standard keyboard, but I just love the glove80.

They could be trying to pull a double: not wasting a good crisis (Twitter) to syphon users, and Embrace/Extend/Extinguish the fediverse.

These tech CEOs don’t deserve the benefit of Hanlon’s razor anymore. Too much evidence of Te contrary.

Why would you laugh? You asked a question and he answered.
