Really glad you both suggested this game!

Am having an absolute blast playing!!!

I wanted to love Soma, I tried playing twice now. I live for the ocean, so this should be right up my alley. But to be fair I never passed the apartment at the start.

I reaaaaally should stick with it and try again. Thanks for reminding me of my shame!

Wow, thank you so much for this! So much in this I wanted to see, I really appreciate the time you took!

I adore diving. I actually moved around the world for 11 months to teach diving after my PADI IDC. So you’d think Subnautica would be tailor-made for me.

It just didn’t really explain what I needed to do. I don’t need my hand held in games, but by the time I figured out what I needed, the realization was a whole lot of upkeep and ‘menial tasks’ to progress. If that makes sense. I couldn’t pass the early game to get to the story and progress. This is all on me, but I never enjoyed Minecraft, so that whole genre is maybe not for me. I wish I did, it looks so lovely.

Abzu though, that was amazing!

I’ve got Outer Wilds downloading right now. I keep reading and seeing comments and posts telling me how much I’ll love it, so I have to have faith (like Dutch kept telling me -_-), thanks for reminding me about this one. It seems quirky and to have its own style, I think I’ll like this!

(P.s. is Spiritfarer harrowingly sad? I see a lot that this game needs a box of tissues and a teddy bear nearby when playing through, that’s why I haven’t jumped to it yet!)

I tried Hades! I loved the art and the world, but the idea of progressing only a little each time and dying (often) was a turn off to me.

The world they made though? Amazing! Thanks for these suggestions, I’ll check them all out!

Suggestions for smaller-y games if I liked _______
I've had a great time playing some of the 'smaller' games lately: Dredge (adore this game *so* much), Dave the Diver, Cloudpunk, Stray, Octopath II, Observer. What else would I like? That aren't roguelikes or crafting-building games (don't hate me, I tried to love Subnautica...as a diver I should love it, but the genre just isn't for me!). Would love any suggestions!

After Snowden’s efforts at showing what America was capable of nearly 10 years ago, I’m not at all interested in letting that country have my data

What a shock to read. I love his books, his story, what he achieved and how he did it all. The world was a better and safer place with Kevin in it.

What a sad day to lose someone like that.

The Metroid Prime Remake was beautiful to see on my Switch. Really appreciated playing through that. I had to have a online walkthrough on hand, but that’s just me!

Well worth the price.

I see this weird Death March thing everywhere. I replayed through recently on the easiest setting (story and sword, I think its called?) and had a GREAT time.

If you ever feel the urge, I can’t recommend it enough. The first couple hours of playing are like an extended tutorial. The entirety of White Orchid is a learning zone, really.

As everyone says, once you reach the Bloody Baron quest, you see just how amazing the game and the writing can be!

Maybe ny fav game of the last 5 years. Control just took my breath away.

The Stephen King/Twin Peaks-feeling atmosphere I needed in a game, and yep, Jesse Faden was 100% my gym motivation for a solid month there!!

That’s interesting you loved XV, I played right after the VII Remake and it just didn’t ‘click’ with me.

I love the design (the almost mid-cent car’s look), but it just wasn’t right to me somehow.

OP what do you think about Xenoblade Chronicles X? Have you played? Is this an okay one to ‘start’ with?

Usually I see mecha and I am all in, but haven’t played yet! Would love to hear if you have played it.

Agreed with this.

A few years back it seemed better: fewer people meant recognised faces, regular chats, and almost a community feeling. I was in some kind of Linux instance.

Being much younger than most threw people off though, and I ended up feeling a little…on-the-outside and left.

I hopped on a week back and it feels so different now. Less community-oriented and all I find interesting is searching a hashtag and leaving.

I don’t know, maybe reddit (before the death) and lemmy have spoiled me, it just seems like random thoughts above all now.

A recommendation pleading post (with a twist)
So amongst other things I'm on a high dose of valium right now, and things are difficult. Gosh darn it even dressing is an effort (who has two thumbs, didn't get out of bed/her nightie this morning? And maybe will live in bed forever now? This girl). My girlfriends I live with are all mile-a-minute getting ready to fly out for a work trip and I feel like a magikarp to their Sonic the Hedgehog. My question is, what do I buy for my Steam Deck to keep me sane that requires the dexterity of a potato. Or at least, that I can take a loooong time to figure out. No pressure. Just finished Final Fantasy VII Remake before all of this, and I'd love something far less intense and concentrate-y (even though God damn was that game pretty and incredible and yes I downloaded FFXV because I love the modern FF world now) (Srsly, FF7 Remake was sublime) I suck at games like minecraft and surviving crafting things. Subnautica looks like a dream but...crafting and survival. I hate that genre. Love oceans and tropical. Hate crafting. Someome help? Plz? <3 (And thanks, sorry for rambling here x)

Can’t recommend playing it on Steam Deck enough. Amazing pick-up-and-play game that looks incredible on the screen!

I sit down, push one button on my Xbox controller to turn it on and another once more to play a game.

It is just a world easier to play a game on a console than it is on a PC. I’m sure we can be objective about this.

The video looked incredible, didn’t it! I’m really looking forward to playing…one day. Fantasy can’t ever have enough games in that genre for me.

Also, having never played Oblivion, this is right up my alley!

Comfort of my couch + TV on my Series X far outweighs whatever improvements sitting at a desk provides.

Xbox comes with comfort, and to me that is priceless

Anyone else just using whatever is FOSS feom f-droid?

Of course the more apps the merrier, but personally open code = a more trustworthy use for me

Actually looks like I’ll only be playing through Asylum and City. Bought all three on my Steam Deck, but for some reason Knight is unsupported on there.

But, I’m happy to start with the original and enjoy it from there!

Hey, somehow I didn’t even notice this?

I think you saved a lot of pondering, and made this whole post a bit pointless! Thanks so much, I just got it!

Now, I might as well start at the start!

Really interesting how many comments here think Knight is the better of the three!

Ye-es, pretty much what I worried it would be! A shame, since I love how it looks, but car-drivey-Batman doesn’t seem too much of a winner to me :(

I’ve seen a lot of discussions on the batmobile being a let-down in the third game!

Which Batman game to get if you could only get one?
I see Batman Arkham City GOTY is on sale on Steam. Is that one objectively better than the others?

Resident Evil 2 Remake.

I think if like me you are a total scardey-cat then it’ll be an effort!

I adore the visuals, the world, how well it runs on my Steam Deck. I have a slight girl-crush on Claire (after a full-blown crush on Jill after playing RE:3 before this!), and a disctinct realisation that if a zombie apocalypse comes? I am toast.

The issue is I am terrible with scary games! But I am really quite taken with the world in the game!

5/7 so far

Yep, it was 100% a ‘bigger’ game, so I’m sure I’m just stuck somewhere in the mix. Everything I click in the support pages just takes me back to my already requested request for a refund, so can’t even reach any live chat support.

My main take-away is to just be patient (it’s so not in my nature!)

Appreciate your input and help by the way!

That’s the strange part. A few days old and a total of 4 minutes play-time!

I just hope its maybe stuck in the system, like you said, for a few days.

I can’t be frustrated, because the system exists for our benefit, I think I’m just mystified why it is taking some time!

Why am I not surprised?

What annoys me the most is the stance he keeps trying to project that reddit is just a a ‘poor lil company, never any profit, just a little fish’.

Hearing that he wants to bring in the ability to oust established moderators by votes?

Good luck, who wants to literally give their time and energy to this company now for free? Not me anymore.

What a sad, sad interview.

How long does a steam refund typically take?
A game I got on the 14th is still sitting there telling me it has "a pending refund request for this product". Am I just too antsy? I thought this would be an automated process. Has anyone got a time-frame this could take? Being rather new to the Steam world, its all a mystery to me. Thanks for any help!

SmartTube on my TV and NewPipe on my phone make me realise when I watch something on my Xbox just how bad regular viewing can be

Just downloading Cyberpunk 2077 to my Steam Deck. Any suggested mods?
First time I'll be playing Cyberpunk with mods! Every previous playthrough has been on my Series X, so I'm hoping some people here might have some expert must-have mods I need to grab?! Appreciate any input!

I thought I couldn’t get any more excited about this upcoming DLC. Turns out I wss wrong. I love how all of this sounds!

I’m done.

The subs I moderated have either gone dark, or are going dark in the next ciuple days.

And with that I let the mod teams I was a part of know that I am moving on. I hate what reddit did to the community, and my time feels better spent where it will be appreciated.

Hi-Fi Rush: team costume pack. Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis: June monthly bonus. Apex Lengends: arsenel supercharge pack. Battlefield 2042: new dawn field kit Hopefully someone can use these here. If you do claim one, let this post know so you can save someone some time! These are just from my Xbox Game Pass perks.

Suggestions for slightly older AAA games for Steam Deck?
Recently finished Bioshock, Spec-Ops: The Line and Nier Automata (not so old, but played really well). I'd love any suggestions for older AAA titles that are worth a play-through!
