I pretty much only look at All and somehow like a good third of my feed is Star Trek stuff. Mostly memes, and mosty TNG/DS9.

I somewhat enjoy it because I’m not really a big trek fan and it reminds me what it feels like to not be “targeted” by an ad. But ironically, it had the effect of me starting to put on TNG at night.

Id feel weirdly awkward and embarassed seeing my computers innards posted in a YouTube video, and I don’t know why. Like if my middle school yearbook photo showed up on Facebook.

That actually happened to me recently. My grade school best friend posted a pic from a field trip like 30 years ago and I’m naming off every person in it like I just saw them yesterday…then I see one person in it and I’m like “who the fuck is that hideous looking child? Is that me??? Shit that’s me”

Dude Germany is literally the reason we have computers.

People love to give Turing all the credit, but he wouldn’t have needed to build it if not for the Germans.

I’m not sure, but I think this is a FOSS, Selfhosted, O365 replacement-in-a-box. Well, helm chart.

Pretty cool IMO.

Sorry thought it was well-known enough without additional context (talking about switch in gaming community). I was going to mention this was 2020 for added context because ACNH launch was exceptionally huge because of Covid lockdowns.

Sharing isn’t the problem. 4 year olds aren’t the most responsible or capable of keeping track of small objects.

I can’t tell you the places I’ve found Odyssey, and that’s his favorite game. And 3D All Stars is completely missing, which I’m still really upset about.

They gonna fix sharing digital games with family members? Or do I have to keep cartridges around so my 4yo can pop them out and lose them?

Crazy to think that when I bought a lot of my digital games, I wouldn’t have expected a second kid who wants to play them on a separate switch. Now my saves are all fucked because he’s gotta play them on my profile on the second switch. I bought that switch because my wife and I both wanted to play ACNH, which was also bullshit. And then I got stuck with the Lite because we couldn’t migrate her island over, which was also bullshit.

There’s no reason we can’t share digital libraries with households. Amazon does it.

Personally I think gas is still too cheap.

Gas should be prohibitively expensive. It’s price should reflect its impact.

Unfortunately this would crumble the entire US and possibly western economy. It works in most of the rest of the world because the commutes are smaller and the alternative transit is plentiful.

The dude was compromised by a landscaping company and by fucking Borat. Of course he got compromised by the Kremlin.

Yeah, that’s rough buddy.

I didn’t realize Max OOP limits were so high. I’d say it’s bullshit that HSA contribution limit isn’t tied to the max annual OOP.

My family OOP is lower than family contribution limit. Hadn’t realized that it could be any other way.

That’s the thing about HDHPs…they aren’t really great unless you are also actively funding your HSA. Which, unlike an FSA, doesn’t lose its balance at the end of the year.

At my employer, it also worked out that HDHP Premiums + Funding HSA to cover the whole deductible cost less over the course of the year than PPO Premiums alone.

That, to me, makes the HDHP the best option no matter how you look at it…as long as the HSA can cover your deductible.

And even then, it allows the balance over a certain amount to be invested in funds similar to a 401k, so not only do you not lose the funds at the end of the year, you are also keeping it invested instead of losing value to inflation.

I switched from 4x 1080p displays for work (1 over 3) to a 4k, a 1080p, and the laptop screen.

The 1080p is mostly for screenshares in meetings. Since most people don’t have 4k monitors, sharing a 4k display in a meeting is a terrible experience for everyone else.

But I’d much rather have “one big display” than the same real estate on more screens. Much more flexible with layout. A 4k monitor is the same number of pixels as 4 1080p screens, and I’ve got one 43” monitor (TV) instead of four 23”.

Used laptops are the shit for basic web browsing.

I just found a Lenovo T470s at a flea market (Flea@MIT, for anyone in the Boston area), 6th gen i5, 2x4GB RAM, and 128GB NVMe, with charger and W10 license…for $100.

I bought a 1TB NVMe and a 16GB SODIMM for like $80. Dual-booting Fedora and W10 (fresh-installed…I don’t trust someone else’s installation). Since getting it (Fathers Day), I only needed Windows one time (Linux Fire Toolbox wasn’t working too well for me with my Prime-Day Kindle Fire).

As a plus, the battery life is supreme as well, and upgrading the ram and NVMe were stupid simple, as they are on most the Lenovo T-series.
