I quite enjoyed reading their in-depth tech coverage. Especially, in the early days when theyvcovered smartphones. There won’t be a 2nd anandtech in history for a long time to come.

They should release their articles as a torrent to conserve the long history of anandtech.

Do you know anything about financial markets?

I’m at a beginner level in Investments and stock market.

Study and you’ll understand everything you could do with it.

I’m already learning about Investments and stock market. Maybe, once I finish that I could consider this. But, I don’t see much value in crypto so won’t bother.

Perhaps, if my perception changes in the future I could reconsider. Just not in the near future.

I never understood the crypto hype. There was even an article by protonmail detailing its history and all. Yet, I remain oblivious.

Lol, at least they bothered with actual improvement instead of blasting the horn the other side.

That would be a liability, and they would go after the parent company crying foul play.

Yeah, something like Adguard family DNS protection or any other family protection DNS service exist which works at the device level or even the network level and is simple to setup on smartphones and latops/computers or even the router.

YouTube won’t even load comments saying restricted mode if I browse through Adguard family protection DNS server.

What if charging your phone took less time than brushing your teeth? A [new study](https://www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.2401656121) published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences could very well hold the key to a next-gen charger capable of recharging your phone in just 60 seconds. Researchers from the University of Colorado Boulder have discovered a new cutting-edge technique that could make it possible to charge devices almost instantaneously. This would make charging phones, laptops, and even electric cars much more efficient and convenient. The foundation of the new technique is based on new insights into how ions move through supercapacitors. The key, one of the researchers explains in a [press release](https://www.colorado.edu/chbe/2024/05/23/charge-your-laptop-minute-or-your-ev-10-supercapacitors-can-help-new-research-offers), is to make the movement of the ions more efficient. By doing this we can make the charging and release of energy much faster, allowing for that next-gen charger that is capable of boosting your phone’s charge from 0 to 100 in just a minute, or maybe even less. To make this discovery, the researchers looked at the movement of ions through a complex network of interconnected pores running through the supercapacitor. Their findings have helped modify a scientific law that researchers have used to govern electrical currents for more than 175 years. This law, called the Kirchhoff circuit law, describes the flow of electrons in a simple loop of wiring in most classes. However, when inspecting the ions and their movement, the researchers found that the ions move fundamentally differently at the intersections of tiny nanoscale pores when compared to how electrons move near the same locations. Further observations helped them determine that these movements are different from what Kirchhoff’s law describes. This doesn’t completely throw out the old laws, though, as they still provide valid explanations for how electronics flow within conventional electronic circuits. However, to create a next-gen charger capable of taking full advantage of the movements of the ions, we have to look at things different. This, the researchers say, is “the missing link” that they have been looking for. Creating more efficient energy storage has been a long-term goal for many engineers. We’ve seen water-based batteries capable of storing more than traditional lithium-ion batteries. Still, a method that lets us charge our batteries almost instantly would remove a lot of the hindrances surrounding the wider adoption of things like electric cars. Not to mention how much more convenient a next-gen character would make charging laptops, phones, and other electronic devices.

Stupidity at its finest. The whole point of cheap 3rd party apple accessories is to use workarounds to get past apple DRMs and use them without paying the apple tax.

Blame apple foremost for creating such a market in the 1st place. You don’t need such workarounds in other phones because they just work.

That’s Google’s version of android. Most OEMs still have the single tap internet toggle.

It depends on the app in question and how powerful your smartphone is. On flagship smartphones and well optimised apps there’s zero lag. On midrange smartphones and lower you may notice that on some heavy apps.

So, you should be fine as long as you get a current generation upper midrange or flagship smartphone.

Maybe your install is bugged. Try clearing the cache and a app restart if that doesn’t fix the issue. Uninstall and reinstall firefox (backup your data 1st before).

Firefox has and is buggy on android. You may need to occasionally restart it once a while. It will continue to be improved. But, that may take time. Like the increased extensions which took years after the rewrite.

Turn off all related functions for photos in the Google photos app and delete any backed up pictures. Finally, disable/uninstall the Google photos app from your phone.

I’m getting the same results as this person. Not the weird ones like the original post

It takes a while for adaptive battery to kick (weeks). Especially, when you newly setup an android device. Same with adaptive brightness. Mine drains fast in active heavy use on 5G with motion smoothness set to high. I also have a dual sim model where one can be pulling the lowest signal strength from tower which can also affect battery drain.

Ah, what was that? I’m currently using one oneui 5. Compared to xioami, the software is more stable and doesn’t have stupid restrictions like not allowing access to running services or frequently killing background apps and services.

Yeah, if not for Ytmusic, I wouldn’t have considered youtube premium. Seperate they don’t make much sense. Together, they add a lot of value. Plus, the bonus of not being bombarbed by multiple ads on each video is good.

OP mentioned already using ublock-origin. Youtube still blocked him for good after multiple warnings to disable

Pinhole works at the network level. You need browser extensions like ublock-origin to filter this on the client side.

Edit: You also have apps like adguard, which work like Pihole, and do cosmetic filtering like ublock-origin.

The mobile version has addons like ublock-origin and bottom search bar. Plus, Chrome wants you to enjoy the web, which is full of ads. I don’t, that’s why.

Most budget and midrange smartphones? Not to forget sony or xioami?

I do not understand your frustration. Like how can google unify iMessage with RCS if Apple refuses to do so. I mean why would Apple even bother and lose one of its pro.

For FaceID there’s face Unlock but it’s not faceid. Fingerprint is the rule and I’m fine with that one. I’m not sure about the home screen UX but I use smart launcher 6 and it does a good job of providing a neat sorted apps catehpry list for me. As for battery life. The new snapdragon 8 gen 2 provides beastly battery life compared to previous generations which were a regression.

About extended software support. I agree google is a bit behind samsung. But, 5 years os support is not bad. You have samsung, some oneplus smartphones and than google.

In the end if none of that matters, you do you. You do not need justification to use or the other. Just read some reviews and make your decision.

Fuck no. Who wants to post online with a flawless prestine character projecting you are the sane one. If you deviate even a little from the norm you would be considered an outcast or worse be targeted for stupid things. Real people would show up at your doorsteps for stupid reasons which could be life threatening to many people (this has happend to many people in real life due to doxxing). Your employer could fire you for that comment you made in support of a certain group which didn’t align with their ideology.

Living in a state of constant public surveillance would mean people are forced to act nice not actually be nice.
