So, I want to use my handheld for more than a music player. Need recommendations for systems to to gen 4 + GBA
Mainly games that aren't too complicated but anything is fine
So, you know commercial spyware? No I'm not referring to ads or things like pegasus. Talking about those weird providers that market to schools, employers and shitty partners
What measures could be taken to mitigate these threats? When physical can be assumes but the attacker isn't skilled, just using one of said tools? How would this vary between phones and laptops for example?

So, I have a not so unique problem. I want to build a PC with decent power and good Linux support but local parts are hard to get and importing is a mess.

Taking inspiration from the let's discuss threads here. So. We all know PlayStation, Xbox. All that but what about systems from lesser brands? What do you like, dislike, what interests you?
For me, I've always found micro consoles interesting. Even if they suck in practice. Alps plug and play systems are cool. Was too young for both of those tho
I had thus Lexibook handheld. Imaging a GBA. Just shit. That's what it kinda was, generic games and stuffDied after a few years. I also had the leapster explorer and a leapster2 I got second hand, they were OK as a kid, but the hames are shit in kindsight. The explorer now has life as a crap emulator.
Currently I emulate on handhelds but not sure what that would fall under.

So, I'll start. I have 3 devices that I'd say are tied for best
First, my n3ds xl. Beautiful handheld, clamshell, just a nice piece of hardware. If the cstick didn't suck itd be the sole winner. My 3ds has served me very well
I also like my rp4 pro, just a great all round emulation machine. And a functional second analog stick, its almost like analog sticks are meant to be sticks and not pencil top erasers
I also like my ambernic sp, got it recently. Looks cool. And clamshell so yippee
As for the worst, I have a few:
Mandatory jab at the switch. Not awful but cmon, the controls suck
The leapster explorer. Shitty dpad. Insane power consumption, it s afun gimmick, jut kinda useless.
Then I had this little system from lexibook, the "compact cyber arcade" or something. Was silver and white, appeared to be 16 bit. Really shit controls. Buttons weren't even labeled. It also just randomly died after about a decade, but I can't fault it for that I guess.
I also hate tiger handhelds with a passion. Like ignoring the awful game, the controls just SUCK I didn't even pay for the one I do have and I still feel scammed

So. I have 2 I hate.
I had this old gamesube one for the switch. It was a wired one by powerA. Buttons would get jammed, accidentally broke the stick by leaving it in a bad position overnight (my bad) the cover of the cstick randomly slid off (had to glue it) and the while thing was hollow.
Also, I have a keapster explorer and the dpad is awful. Sometimes it jams to the left but its just a plain bad dpad, no physical feedback at all

At the moment I use my 8bitdo pro2. It was kinda expensive but its a huge upgrade from my no name switch controllers and awful gamesube one from powera.
Also, the 3ds had really good controls (we don't talk about the c stick)

Its a retroarch core that isn't avalibke in-app
How do I force android to show hidden directories? (I don't think root is an option)

I'll be honest, I prefer dpads, they are more compact, more tactile and more precise. If I could I'd not use an analog stick in smash bros and just use dpad.

It sounds dumb but my pick would be the SNES. There's just something about 16 bit games I love.
The SNES has so many good games, like sf2. The first party games and some good arcade ports.
It also has a lot of good RPGs, like chrono trigger
The controller is really cute
Tho, the PSP is a close second. Tekken dr running at 3x resolution looks beautiful

Have you ever held a switch? Its long, flat and the controllers suck. Awful dpad and bad sticks.
Its almost comical, for a small stick the 3ds stick is better than any joycon stick.
And also, internal storage being only 32 GB, and cart games being downloaded in full to the system.
The switch is a mess. At least the games emulate well.
That's not even going into the online ransom shit.
And the dock sucks too. Would it have killed Nintendo to add like 2 more USB ports and an Ethernet port.

Mainly asking cos some of my IRL friends suggested we should play mc and while I have an account I dislike playing on PC and don't want to sync a personal account to an unsecured device.
