Depends what you mean by same port. A reverse proxy would allow you to expose everything over 443 and then the proxy would route to particular app ports and hosts.
It’s a technical challenge but I wouldn’t rule it out. Apple has been using a “neural engine” in their SoC for faced id, etc. for a while. So it’s something they’ve been working on. It will need to get better, but AI models are also getting more efficient.
I’d really love to see some better propositions for quantifying value that’s better than straight up corporate profit. I’m with you a 100%, just looking for the path to get there.
I agree that we shouldn’t devalue it, and that was my initial word choice. That wasn’t the intent behind the choice, but I get it. I’m not sure “essential” is a good descriptor either. It is essential, but that’s not the defining quality we’re after.
I still think I’m pretty ok with that. In comparison to trying to correlate how long I look at something and my scrolling patterns and build this into a larger profile with finger printing and ip’s.
Is “everything you do” including everything you look at and all of the telemetry? I assume that’s client dependent. And would be surprised if any Lemmy clients are doing that kind of thing. Everything you post being public is one thing. But I’ve always found the behavioral telemetry more offensive.
