Makes sense with the cost of food these days . I’m pretty sure I saw that world food prices have gone down while food prices fornme atleast are still going up . Are Canadians being scammed by grocery stores ? How is butter $8 for 450 grams ?

Are Canadians being scammed by grocery stores ?

Not yet. The world price of food started climbing in late 2019 but nobody really noticed until well into 2022. In other words, it takes time to work its way through the supply chain. We were never expecting grocery store prices to fall before the end of this year, early next year at the earliest.

But the government has recently allowed grocers to freeze prices at the market high, so you are about to be scammed. Those price declines we’ve been long waiting for are now going to be propped up by the government.

How is butter $8 for 450 grams ?

Dairy, eggs, and poultry are supply managed. The government has always scammed you on those products.

Was just looking into this and all the news sites are acting like big grocery is being so great by putting a price freeze but it’s definitely not out of goodness of their corporate hearts. Price freeze right before things get cheaper .

100% Canadians are being robbed by grocery stores.
