How to migrate from Tachiyomi to a fork:

  • On Tachiyomi: Settings -> Data and Storage -> Create Backup
  • On the fork: same steps, select “Restore backup”

Probably, GitHub isn’t a good place for this type of projects. youtube-dl, CloudStream both got nuked in the past with DMCA

Gitlab/gitea might be better. GH is getting more and more DMCAed.

Im not git savvy, so:

  1. will there be any difficulties moving to another Repo website? 1a: if the difficulty is easy-intermediate, why aren’t the developers making the move off github?

It’s harder for other devs to discover your project when you use the other Git forges (e.g. Gitlab).

Probably not wrong. But it’s a double edged sword, if Tachiyomi wasn’t hosted on Github it’s likely that it wouldn’t have gotten this far.
