As Canadians watched a day of considerable political turmoil for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his government given the sudden departure of Chrystia Freeland on Monday, it appears that U.S. president-elect Donald Trump was also watching it unfold.

“The Great State of Canada is stunned as the Finance Minister resigns, or was fired, from her position by Governor Justin Trudeau,”

“Her behavior was totally toxic, and not at all conducive to making deals which are good for the very unhappy citizens of Canada,” Trump continued, ending his post with: “She will not be missed!!!”

😒

I bet he never heard the name before and still has no idea what she was doing. He’s just trying to start a bandwagon and doesn’t seem to realize how much this makes almost everyone in Canada want to slap him on sight.

Unless he forgot, Trump is well aware of her.

She was one of the lead Canadian negotiators during the re-negotian of NAFTA (a process Trump triggered because he pretended he could negotiate a better deal). She was tough and capable, and Trump hated that.

Also, she is very strong on supporting Ukraine against Russia, so Putin also dislikes her to the point of adding her to the list of individuals banned from Russian territory.

More then that. She employed guile and cunning to both push for our desired position and delay our southern neighbours to the point where they didn’t get a chance to plead their case in the negotiations. In short, she owned the USA in the negotiations for the USMCA. If Trump knows someone other than ‘the governor,’ you just know that she’s a threat to him. Let’s make her PM.
