Yes. I’m open to a well-informed person telling me I’m wrong and why, but until then: Proportional representation is by and far the greatest thing we can do to increase the quality of our democracy and make our government work for the people and not be highly susceptible to political parties and lobbyists gaming the system to their benefit

Not just voting no.

Campaigning and advertising and truth in “election promises” (lies). Do what you promise or you’re out.

Do what you promise or you’re out.

Yeah, like electoral system reform!

I’m not just talking elections. I’m talking governing. If you don’t govern how you promise during elections you’re out and the party in line (by number of votes) is automatically boosted into power.

For election advertising you’re not allowed to talk about other parties at all. Only your own record and plans.

Okay, but who decides whether you achieved your promises? Most of the time it’s open to interpretation, because the implementation turns out to be messy. The opposition spins it one way, the government spins it the other.

I’m all for stricter advertising rules, although I fear not being able to point out really egregious things like open racism could be bad.

Yeah I’m saying this because the current regime swore they would overhaul the electoral system during their first campaign.

We need to stop being the quasi two-state nation.

Not any different from another group getting in power. If they think it will keep them in power then it’s going to be status quo every time.

Yes and? What’s you’re point exactly? Does that somehow exuses it? Short term vision for short term goals. They’re about to get ejected, which they probably could have avoided if they had followed up on their promises.

Sorry, but I find the tone of your replies does not contribute to having a meaningful conversation with you. So I’m going to block you. Have fun.

This isn’t an airport, you don’t need to announce your departure. Have fun in your bubble.

We do! I hope yall achieve it at least since it seems federally and provincially (even here in BC!) It’s going to take a long time.
