Pretty sure Operation Beaver Drop was in the 70s. We’ve known that the increased water retention not only acts as a natural fire barrier, but it’s incredibly beneficial to local biodiversity.

It’s just that not only is there no money to be made in the process, wetlands can’t really be used for anything that produces money.

Have shit not burn down doesn’t make money, but it stops losing money.

But the tax payers will have to pay to fix the burnt stuff so why should some oligarch care? They have money to make today if they clear cut the forest and drain the wetlands. The future generations can deal with the consequences.
