Likely not as good as infuse video player but I’ve been using nPlayer and it’s been working great and plays everything, even HDR content. There is a free and a paid version.
Does RD need a VPN? I didn’t think you could do a VPN on an AppleTV.
No, and that’s more or less what debriding services are aimed at.

using a VPN is always a good habbit to be in, whether you need it or not

On your second statement, they’re actually (finally) adding VPN support in the next update

I just feel like 3 different subscriptions is too much. I pay for RD, as I feel like it’s the best value out there at ~$18 twice a year, but I just use torrent sites on my iPhone/iPad to find whatever I want and upload those directly to RD’s site with a safari extension. Then $25 gets you a fire stick where Kodi is $free.99 so that takes care of watching on TV. I was seriously hoping this whole sideloading thing on iOS17 was gonna be available in all regions and not just the EU because having Kodi on my iPhone without having to worry about signing it once a week would be a blessing.

Absurdly priced lifetime purchases are…well, stupid. I’m still not convinced having 3 different subscriptions is worth it when there are tons of other free options available that are just as good, and I pretty much so refuse to pay for software on a monthly basis on principle alone. But if you’re happy with it, it’s your money. $7 a month is obviously better than $200, but that’s a silly comparison.

Is this relevant for people using media servers like plex or emby? Been a while since I had an iPhone but I remember there being at least a plex app. I’m curious since I plan to switch back to iPhone next phone.
Personally I don’t really think so. There is a Plex app, you can connect infuse to Plex too, and there are emby and jellyfin apps. Plus, PWAs work fine for overseerr and the like.
Plex app does exist. The download feature on it is 50/50 and will bamboozle you when you need it most
Are you still having issues with the download feature? It was definitely a disaster at first, but it’s gotten way more reliable and responsive over the past few months it seems.
Edit: I ask because I’ve seen quite a few “fixes” that people have advertised that seemed to work for a bit, and could dig them up for you if you needed.
I last tried in 2019 but LTT made a video recently saying they won’t accept sponsorships from Plex anymore until they fix downloads. I have a Plex Lifetime Pass and I’d love to use it again if the download worked, because that’s the only thing I want to use it for now (in between moving apartments)
I can personally say that downloading works much better for me now. So I’d recommend giving it another shot! I definitely agree that it was terrible and fully supported LTTs stance as of a few months ago, so maybe the Plex team decided to prioritize that…

+1 for Infuse. I have it my my setup that runs it all off a NAS. The dev has reasonable prices and collects nothing with regards to data.
And the UI/UX is far better than Kodi.
Jealous of what? Screenshot showing Kodi running on an iPad with Sileo open showing the tweak’s information

It doesn’t mention jailbreaking, which he is doing.
Infuse is what makes the AppleTV worth it. Although I download from a seedbox to my NAS, it’s so nice having a fluid and modern interface for browsing everything. How does real debris compare to that flow?
Now if Apple would just add TrueHD Atmos support, the device would be perfect.
The system here uses infuse, it just connects to real debrid instead of your own network share
How does this compare with my home hosting solution with vpn *arrs jellyfin and infuse. I am not familiar with Orion and real debrid. It looks like you are outsourcing everything.
Your system is the one I use too. The major difference is, as you say, this outsources everything. I prefer to keep my own copies of my content, while this streams it and requires more fees to access the services.
Has anyone tried using the recently released Stremio Web with RD? My understanding is that it’s more or less fully featured.
Edit: I mean on iOS (iPad specifically). I think it’s probably a viable solution.
