It would take some scrounging around the bottom of the barrel to find a historical precedent for what transpired Friday in the Oval Office.

There simply aren’t good parallels.

On live TV, the U.S. president argued with the leader of a friendly nation facing existential peril — then expelled him from the White House and cancelled their lunch.

To find a precedent, one expert looked back to the defunct Soviet bloc, and how the Kremlin would treat subservient communist leaders.

“How they humiliated them in public. How they bullied them. There has been no precedent in the United States,” said Aurel Braun, an expert on eastern Europe at the University of Toronto, calling the meeting “extraordinary.”

This fundamental turn in U.S. foreign policy played out in real time, on camera. What does this mean for American allies? One senior U.S. senator, Democrat Mark Warner, said he’s worried for Canada.

You know what other leader was famous for throwing tantrums? Adolf Hitler.

Are we convinced the US is a Nazi country yet or is it still too soon?

Not soon enough. Too many Canadians aren’t worried or scared about what Trump will do to our nation and people. And we should be.

I reckon Canadians should be required to visit Finland: there’s a country that also shares a huge border with a fickle and dangerous neighbor, but whose citizens are keenly aware of the danger and prepare themselves very thoroughly for the worst, to the point of paranoia.

It is not paranoia of you your risk assessment is accurate. It is just awareness.

I read this as “the day the old American ordered crack in the oval office”

Which is just as realistic because that display of “negotiation” would only make sense coming from a crackhead

The sad part is there’s a large population of people in America going “HELL YA! MURICA! TRUMP’S OUR SAVIOR!”

It may have been an example of both.

Trump could very well have ordered a line for the staff instead of Valium.

Maybe, in the PAL/FAC application there should be a check box: “To shoot Americans if they invade Canada”?

Cause, PAL or not…sign me up.
