Like Americans are saying for them, post is a service, it does not lose money, it’s like saying the Canadian army lost 24 billions $

The whole “article”

Canada Post reported a before-tax loss of $254 million for its second quarter. Revenue dropped by $78 million, or six per cent, year-over-year. Canada Post announced a transformation plan in June that targeted the e-commerce market for parcel delivery but ruled out staffing cuts.

Canada post costs money to run, it doesn’t lose money, just like our hospitals and schools cost money, they aren’t lost we are paying for these things so we have a nice place to live.

It’s a small thing, but it’s a huge difference of meaning.

If there was anything else at all in the article explaining the increase being unnecessary then maybe…

My thoughts exactly whenever their “losses” are mentioned.

Is there a non-necessary reason that Canada Post is losing money like this?

Idk, all I know from this link is that:

Canada Post reported a before-tax loss of $254 million for its second quarter. Revenue dropped by $78 million, or six per cent, year-over-year. Canada Post announced a transformation plan in June that targeted the e-commerce market for parcel delivery but ruled out staffing cuts.

Which is just repeated multiple times. I wasn’t aware that Canada Post was supposed to be profitable.

Creative math.

Canada post isnt viable as a private business. It’s an essential service for remote communities, though, and a government service.

Let’s look at how we started treating CP like a business.

I totally forgot that some people are trying to privatize it. Ya, as a private business it’d be abysmal. It cannot be operated with profit in mind or else Canadians will suffer.

Isn’t a more honest phrasing that Canada Post the public service costs 1bn/year to have in the country?

I think i still prefer having a mail system even if it costs money. Same as having police and roads.
