They are at EU average again mostly… Greedy fucks.
As to be expected. By political initiative, they shut down their nuclear power a while back
Nuclear had nearly no effect on the energy prices in germany. Here is an overview: https://www.zeit.de/wirtschaft/energiemonitor-deutschland-gaspreis-spritpreis-energieversorgung?utm_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fduckduckgo.com%2F
Consumer prices are gradually decreasing since the turn off on April 15, the stock price was lower for a while and now rose because of gas. This is the main driving factor.
I remember reading they were shutting down nuclear power nationwide however many years ago and thinking that was a big mistake. Yes nuclear currently produces a lot of waste material that we have to store, but it’s still one of the cleanest and safest energy sources we have as a species.
An immediate google search says that the US generates 4 cubic metres of waste annually. It’s not even that much 🤷
True, though the amount produced is less of a concern than the amount of space and storage requirements necessary to make sure we don’t accidentally irradiate things we care about.
Says the highest industry lobbyist of the country. I don’t by it.
Unfortunately no numbers or sources in the article. Here is at least a source for private energy, you can see that it is close to EU average. https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/statistics-explained/index.php?title=File:Electricity_prices_for_household_consumers,_second_half_2022_v5.png
