There is something ironic about the National Post lecturing anyone about media bias, as it did recently with a front-page story titled “A more damaging media bias.” As Marc Edge shows, the opposite is true: the extreme level of ownership concentration in Canada has since resulted in a correspondingly extreme conservative media bias.

I hate that services like Google news and Apple News recommend national post.

Apple News recommends them after I blocked them, it just grays out the image previews.

Also, lately the Globe and Mail has really turned to shit with their own biased reporting.

I’m disappointed that the Globe has declined so much. I used to enjoy that paper in the '90s.

I’ve just found it incredibly editorial heavy the last few years.

It’s like they want to be the economist, but all they know how to do is shit on the current state of things.

I’m legitimately disappointed that Google and Apple news didn’t follow through with their threat to withdraw from the market.

NP is trying to whitewash itself. It’s a common (Nazi) tactic: accuse your opponent of that which you are guilty. Even if it’s not true, at least you pull everyone down into the crab bucket and truth dies a little more, which suits you fine.

It’s a little like the Conservatives going on about how no one thinks about “regular Canadians”, as if the party that’s even more in-bed with monied interests than the Liberals gives a shit about regular Canadians.

I wish it were more commonplace to be upfront about possible biases rather than falsely trying to present articles as neutral. Impartiality should be pursued, but bias can’t be completely eliminated. If publications were upfront about their authors’ biases, at least we’d know where they’re coming from.
