An historic downtown Toronto bar is closing its doors next week after nearly 200 years in business.

That’s ok, I can’t afford to go there anyways

Goddamn… Many hazy memories from the Black Bull. 🥹

Went there several times when I worked downtown Toronto. Middlingly good bar. Basic drink selection. Like an Applebee’s in bar form. Weird to see it close though. It was such a fixture.

So it’s being sold and it can’t be demolished.

It’s gonna be a rough bit of renos to get it back up to code while still following the labyrinthine heritage regs, but by no means it is gone for good.

Hope someone buys it and can grow a local pub with all those high-rise patrons around it.
