There are DOZENS of people that know at least one character from Concord’s name

Yeah I don’t see this being an issue at all. They have to physically have my key? Oh no. Then they already have my key. And I will have disabled the key on my accounts. Unless they what, steal the key from me, take it to the lab, clone it with 11k worth of equipment, then sneak it back into my purse before I notice it’s gone? That’s some nation state espionage stuff and that is not in my threat model.

Of course countries do. But usually you call it a “Department of Communications” or something instead of “advertising”.

Are we sure they don’t mean “other people’s religions” when they agree?

“Israeli Government Advertising Agency” Is this a lost in translation situation? Does it mean something more like “Government Communications”? Because a government having an agency blatantly dedicated to propaganda is… well it’s bold. But it could be me misreading what is meant by advertising.

“dedicating the equivalent of 34,000 full-time engineers to what has become the single largest cybersecurity engineering project in the history of digital technology,”

What does this mean? Are they having it done by 50,000 part timers? Or are they just asking bing chat to churn out security solutions for them?

This is where in a sane world independent journalists would see allegations like these and properly investigate and bring us the truth of the matter. But we don’t live in a world where that happens often anymore.

Their morals didn’t really change though did they? :( They’ve always been what they are. It’s just that the words that come out of their mouths don’t line up with how they act or what they believe, or even reality, a lot of the time.

While I think it’s funny that the tough on crime crowd is rallying behind a convicted felon it’s important to remember that sometimes there ARE people who have been politically suppressed. Eugene Debs ran in 1920 for the socialist party. He’d been convicted for speaking out against WW1 at the time. He didn’t win, but he did run.

What I hope is that Trump just doesn’t win. His support goes way beyond simple constitutional rights or freedom of speech. These GOP voters are not REALLY saying convicted felons should be allowed to become president. They are saying TRUMP should be allowed to become president. It’s populist, slightly cultish, and entirely frightening. Due process means nothing, personality and whatever they personally view as “strength” are what matters to them.

“fax machines are at odds with a world embracing artificial intelligence.” So bring on the fax machines! MORE fax machines!

There was a vote that happened in my youth where two parties ended up with (Edit: NEARLY) identical amounts of votes in the house. In my voting district there was an independent running who was fairly popular with the city and we voted him in. The end result was that during legislation there was some vote where the yes/no vote was split perfectly even between the two major parties and our little independent became the deciding factor Edit: My memory was faulty. He forced it into a tie with his vote and the speaker of the house had to be the tie breaker. But the point still stands that his one vote had a pretty large implication.

This is a very niche and unlikely scenario (it did happen though, look up Chuck Cadman) but it was a very clear indication to me that yes, voting does matter. And every one single vote DOES count and make a difference.

Yes Louis Brennan designed a gyroscopic monorail in the early 1900’s but there’s a reason it didn’t work out. Every car needs its own gyroscope which is a lot of dynamic components that need maintenance. A regular two rail train is much simpler and cheaper to operate. The idea these techbros have that everything is made better with individual pods is pretty wasteful when we already have better and cheaper solutions to virtually every problem they have tried to invent for us. Are we even super concerned about rural folks taking transit? By definition they are a small portion of the population and have the greatest need for personal transport. Where we need transit adoption is in urban areas with large populations who all want to drive their personal 2 tonnes of plastic and steel right into town and park it (for free obviously) in their own little parking space.

A gadgetbahn like this will only serve a limited population and won’t be able to tie into the existing transit network. There might be niche situations where it’s not a terrible idea but it is not a good generalized solution.

I hope there’s enough of a market for non-ai content that it doesn’t come to that. I think we already reached the pushback stage with image generation.

I’ve just started using Searxng… you expect it to die soon? Is it because you expect other search engines to follow suit until there are no search engines anymore, only hallucination machines?

The don’t be evil to you must help us commit genocide pipeline

I do this too. If it’s on Gog I buy it there. I hope gog manages to stay around but even if it doesn’t I can grab the offline installers for the games I have purchased and back them up elsewhere.

If you think about it, if you fire everyone and reorganize your business structure, then you’ve opened up all those jobs for prospective employees!

Picked up Immortals of Aveum on sale. My friend recommended it and the combat is fun! But I dislike almost everything else. I intensely dislike the main character and that’s souring me to the rest of it. There’s a “it’s the end of the world” type war going on and while that can be an interesting setting I just can’t bring myself to want the protagonist to succeed. Early on in the game you have to go through some kind of trial to be chosen for some elite status that he doesn’t deserve. So you go through a fairly basic obstacle course with almost no fights to do and when you’re done he’s apparently the ONLY one amazing enough to actually finish it out of the group that were making attempts! OH MY GOD HE’S SO AMAZING! I actually alt-f4’d the game right then because I was truly hoping to complete it and be chastised for how long it took, and be told no I don’t have what it takes and hey kid, you’re pretty fucking arrogant and hard to get along with so we are busting you down to the worst rank we can. That’s is what I wanted for this character. And if that had happened and the story revolved around him learning to get along with people and ACTUALLY have to try and prove his worth I would have been so on board. But no, he gets rewarded for being insufferable. I wouldn’t wish for the villain to win in this world. But I certainly wouldn’t mind this protagonist losing.

But combat is fun when you get to do it. Cutscenes are unskippable and that’s not cool. Dialog is inconsequential so you can just bypass it when that comes up, or just pick the “let’s get on with it” option.

I would give this game a 4/10 right now. It would be an easy 6 or 7 if I could skip all story, dialog, and tedious platforming. It could also earn higher scores by having characters and a story worth NOT skipping, but let’s be reasonable. Just let me skip it pls.

Edit: I literally forgot that this game has a talent tree and crafting. But the crafting was going to cost me half of all the currency I’d collected up to the point I’d found the crafting machine to gain 1% damage or 1% more armour and I just scoffed because like no I am not going to grind that out. The game doesn’t feel challenging enough to need any extra damage or defence tbh even on the hardest difficulty.

The talent tree may be bugged for me? But the talents either aren’t working, or they work at numbers much less than advertised. Like using a type of ability to kill a mob is supposed to heal me for 10% of my max health. That’s a big enough number you should easily see it happen on the health bar. That talent is NOT working for my save. I chose another that increases reload time by 10% but I honestly can’t tell the difference before and after. I’d have to record it and count frames to actually tell if the talent works or not. So I stopped bothering with the talent tree because it felt largely, if not entirely, cosmetic. Maybe it’s just bugged for me though. I’ll get through the game without it if the game is worth getting through though. Little disappointed that there won’t be anything I can do to guide the character’s progress but c’est la vie.

Thank you for giving that context! It really adds a lot to the story

Ok so first, my biases. I’m going to write my best guess and then I’ll read the article. So… is it that Portugal helped people instead of simply trying to arrest them or put up anti-homeless architecture so that those better off wouldn’t have to see addicts in the streets? Let’s go and read now…

WELL. I’m shocked!

"Portugal’s leaders responded by pivoting away from the U.S. drug war model, which prioritized narcotics seizures, arrests and lengthy prison sentences for drug offenders.

Instead, Portugal focused scarce public dollars on health care, drug treatment, job training and housing. The system, integrated into the country’s taxpayer-funded national health care system, is free and relatively easy to navigate. "

Ok, I’m not that shocked.

That’s true but it literally doesn’t matter what you do the Trumpists will cry foul regardless and facts and reason don’t apply to them. I’m just glad the US still has people in positions of power that are willing to go against Trump and actually follow their rule of law. I’m also not American, but as a Canadian I feel dangerously close to what goes on just south of the border and we have our own cadre of ultra right-wingers who are trying to upset Canadian ways in the model of what Trump does. So I’m glad there are judgements against him when warranted even if he’ll never pay up and even if the amount he’s penalized is a pittance to what he should be penalized and even if his followers cry about it.

Good rule for life… NEVER let someone cut you open unless it will save your life or drastically improve it. I was thinking along the lines of quadriplegics regaining autonomy than just futurisms. I could get excited about something that gives people their lives back. Would that ever come out of a company run by Musk? I highly doubt it. But if it weren’t him or other tech bros there could be a chance that it could turn into something that helps people.

If it were anyone but Musk’s company I might be excited at the prospects of this tech.

So far Pocketpair has been VERY careful about actually infringing on copyright or trademarks. People smarter than I am are pretty certain that if Nintendo or the Pokemon Company could take legal action against the game as it is, they would have already. The important things to note are that you cannot copyright an art style and you cannot copyright or patent game mechanics. And even if things were touch and go, the gameplay loop of adding survival elements and an emphasis on cooperative guild base management is pretty transformative compared to Pokemon games. So as long as they avoid adding pals that are so close to their Pokemon counterparts that they don’t pass the squint test they will be alright.

Thanks for the video! Those are some worrying trends in devices for sure

Dang, this is such a cool project and it’s a shame this is happening to it. It’s understandable that Valve wants to be nowhere near Nintendo’s proprietary libraries though. I hope this isn’t the end of the project full stop.

We’re on a streak! Gotta keep this ball rolling

“Tracking Protection” just means they are protecting their exclusivity in tracking you.

Market share doesn’t equal irrelevance as others have said. I use Librewolf and without Firefox it wouldn’t exist. It likely wouldn’t exist at the quality it is without Mozilla taking Google Cash either. But it’s super important to have an alternative even if most people don’t use it. It DOES provide a limited check and balance against google doing whatever they want with the web because if the right people make the right noise then people will move over to something that’s easy, convenient, and free of whatever pain in the butt google puts in chrome that sends people over the edge. See Linux desktop and Valve for an example of how a software with very few users comparatively can force a larger company to play ball. Remember in Windows 8 when MS basically banned 3rd party software stores on the OS… or tried? And Valve made the “Steam Machine” and SteamOS? Everyone says the steam machines failed but they 100% did everything Valve wanted them to do. It was enough to have MS go back on their walled garden and allow Steam to keep operating as it had been. And now we have the steam deck on top of it.

So, it’s ok if Firefox has a small market share as long as it remains a worthy competitor.

Remnant 2 Summoner on subsequent playthroughs?
I'm wondering if anyone here knows how to add the summoner archetype to a character AFTER you've unlocked it. I have already gone through that ordeal and can select the summoner as a new character. But I'd like to add the summoner to a new gunslinger and don't know if the grimoire might be available in the ward. I hope it is! But I suspect it is not. Edit: As luck would have it, and it is fantastically lucky, I ended up getting a bloodmoon immediately after posting this question. In case you are wondering about how to unlock it, here's what I know ::: spoiler spoiler You can look up guides on how to unlock the class and that's easy enough. You need to craft an item at an altar, and it is going to cost you blood moon essence which you can farm from wisps that spawn during a blood moon. What you don't find online is how to actually spawn the blood moon. I do not have good news here. It seems random and extremely rare. I have tried killing the doe as suggested. No bloodmoon. Travelling back and forth between the ward and yeasha, no bloodmoon. Just walking through doors. No bloodmoon. I did this for hours. SO. It seems like getting the bloodmoon is rare and just pure luck until someone can figure out the mechanics of it. BUT if you do get a bloodmoon harvest the wisps as fast as you can, and then go through a doorway into a dungeon. Not the crystal, you don't want to reset the monsters. Just go through a yellow loading door and back and the wisps will respawn. Farm up as many as you can. You need 15 for the class and then there's an armour set if you want to go for it. I don't remember how much all that is because I've never managed to farm up enough wisps lol. For this character I just happened into a bloodmoon and there weren't many wisps spawned in. I only saw three, so I just kept moving into the dungeon and back to respawn those three wisps until the bloodmoon was over. Anyway, I found a lot of guessing online, most of it wrong, about this so at least I can provide some experience. Good luck and good hunting! :::

TLDR; there's no tracking and it requires a piece of hardware in between the psvr2 and pc. But they got past one major technical hurdle.
