I personally agree. I think it’s being somewhat overhyped. If step one is physical access to get things rolling… like for sure some machines are in more public areas than others. But for me, someone would have to break into my house first, then access my machine, just to run exploits later. The exploit is pretty massive, but I think needs to be tempered with “first they need physical access”. Because physically controlling machines has always been number 1 for security.

They push the idea of handing no CapEx, only OpEx! Think of the savings! They then try to make things look cheap like it’s super cheap.

I was doing a test in Azure and forgot to delete the insurance… I’m just a could of days… $30. But my crappy repurposed gaming PC too home server… I can do whatever I want when I want and never have to consider cost.

True. Once I was working on a WPF app and someone looked at it and then showed me a simple YAML file they put together for Ansible and legit thought ‘YAML was better’ and what I was doing was dumb. They considered themselves a programmer.

They provide a simple, out of the box ,turnkey solution with a common UI to configure and manage the whole thing. Out of the box it covers most situations someone might need for a basic home server.

Down voted to negative… No counter points given… ok.

I’ve never heard of that tool, but I’ll look into it.

Think of Plex as a private Netflix, but more. You can put video files on it, music, you can even use it as a DVR!

So far this has given me the best results. I found something on Reddit as well, and the suggestion that I had found could only look good if you had severe cataracts…

Voyager is DVD. Used MakeMKV to get the files, and used VLC to preview it. In the first episode that caretaker I was using the scene with the doctor due to the fog effects the lighting movements everything. The handbrake preview you could definitely tell like gradient bands, and when the doctor walks up to the camera and you can really see him I pause at the exact same moment between the raw file and the preview file and there was a lot of… I’m going to call it distortion in the details on his face, especial around the eyes. (Seen just before meet the caretaker)

Video editing isn’t something I’m familiar with so I’m not really sure what terms to use. I might be able to recreate, but I’m trying some of the other suggestions so not sure if I accurately remember what settings I had.

Handbreak encoding help
This might not be the best place for this question but I honestly can't think of another place, but if you know of one please let me know. But I figured someone here might have the experience I'm looking for. I own the discs for various Star Trek series and everything Stargate. What I'm trying to do is use handbrake to encode them to put them on Plex. But everything I try, it just looks worse. Is there a repository of like recommended settings for various media?
fedilink

It might just be an alias to a function similar to what you posted. Because like you can do curl but it really just calls invoke-webrequest, or ls for Get-ChildItem.

It is kind of weird that I took him this long to put this out though. I imagine a lot of people wrote their own version of this and it all probably very nearly the exact same.

The level of truth this is hurts me to my core.

So you’re taking your experience, with banks only local to you, and extending that as a blanket statement for all banks…

Please list all these banks near you that require IE?
