Nintendo also recently did the Pokenon sleep app which was about tracking your sleep and a bunch of wearables have been shouting they intend to get better about it too…
I don’t know if I want to know why suddenly data on People’s sleep patterns is so profitable but yeah no way am I inviting data tracking and biometric harvesting into my bed with me.
So this has been true of YouTube Red since the beginning. It’s one if the reasons I got it. But they use watch time as the way to divide your money out. It actually makes it extremely unfair split for people that make great but short content. It’s also why longer content became more popular around that time and those 24/7 streams run like that.
Also why creators started doing channels of just padded run time content of like building legos and eating things. It’s to secure better and funding.
The current setup is pretty busted and feels like the wheels are coming off again.
Yeah I have paid for YouTube Red since it was YouTube Red.
I’m pretty sure they don’t want want me anymore cause they have made my whole experience worse and trying to get more and more money and attention out of me.
I really should stop paying too but they are literally making it so there is no alternative and I hate paying on patreon but watching on YouTube with ads
LOL it always the hot garbage that I’m shocked I managed to find that I try to seed as long as possible almost as an apology for making someone else have to host it to give it to me.
But I will say sometimes it’s just a bad quality and it’s hard to figure out if it’s worth keeping it around because it’s the only version available or letting it die.
Oh do you know that QB offers plugins for public and private sites? I don’t have any private ones but they have a bunch. Plus you can actually search specific sites there is a whole menu for it. Totally doable if maybe a bit clunky I guess.
Yeah I don’t get the Arrs.
I guess it would help with the shows that drop weekly but it’s honestly a bit fun to hunt for them.
I have UBO and had to disable it, refresh the page, then re-enable it, and refresh the page again and even then I still get the popup but at least it gives me the option to click download anyway. Maybe it’s a browser thing, maybe it’s an IP address thing. I dunno but it’s buggy as hell and super unreliably coded.
Yeah it’s hidden but not. Super weird because it’s so darn good at it’s job.
It’s under the “View” drop down menu as “Search Engine” and it literally just adds a tab to let you search and import torrents right in the software.
Nyaa I think I needed to add it as a plugin but there is actually a super convenient little button on the bottom right of the search tab called “Search Plugins” which has a link to all of them and then you just install it via the URL copy and pasted into the box.
Takes like maybe 2-3 minutes if you know where all the buttons are so maybe assume 15 just for the shock value of never knowing this existed and figuring out the button placement but very low effort.
Let me know if you need help finding the buttons or anything.
Ignorance is totally fine and it’s insane they don’t make it easier to find since it’s so helpful.
So it’s actually enabled via the “View” drop down menu.
Will actually be the option that says “Search Engine”
And from there you should just see a little tab appear at the top underneath the quick action buttons called search with a magnifying glass.
Bottom right of the screen has the abilities to add more search sites via plugins and are really easy to import directly from URL and I like to keep my search just to enabled sites because some of them are in foreign languages.
Let me know if you need more help.
Hey just a heads up but I personally am a big fan of using QBtorrent as it has an internal search function that lets you search all kinds of sites and get the magnet links without even ever opening the website and if you want to you can right click and have it open the webpage anyways to double check the torrent.
Also I was able to add Nyaa as a search option so searching for anime has been a lot easier.
I had to help someone with this website crap just earlier today and will keep recommending using QBtorrent because of this.
So playing devil’s advocate for a scenario you don’t care about and didn’t put any thought towards as a game to entertain yourself while it has impacts on the real world?
You choose to redefine a boycott because of a thought experiment you didn’t even want to deal with people having a differing opinion on? How incredibly lazy and centrist pointed for no reason other than ignore nuance and reality.
Have a good one, person who ignores issues because it is more fun to just not have an actual opinion on and play the middle like it does anything.
Uh no. It’s helping to support the country as well. It puts pressure on individuals and corporations to also push their local/state government to adjust their policy as well.
If you don’t want to support slavery you can absolutely choose to not buy from countries that use slave labor at parts of the supply chain.
Suggesting that it’s just a location based boycott is disingenuous to the conversation of it being about countries that you as a buyer are supporting. I’m not saying I don’t buy products from people who live in swamps or wetlands, but from a country that is engaged in politcal issues that are quite major in scope.
If you want to excuse it away and embrace that opinion, that it’s fine cause it just is a location, fine. Your desire to buy is able to let you ignore the moral dissonance; and it’s what humans do best, ignoring reality because they want something; but, it doesn’t make you any less in the minority on this.
And that is why I pay for things I actually use. And suggest other people do as well. I pirate the stuff that is being removed or I know I can watch free with garbage ads or if I went to goodwill with a dollar but still pay for my music and YouTube. I’ll get a lot out of my hundred bucks I give them a year and my artists know I appreciate them.
People are really used to free. They forget even their servers have costs even. Piracy should be a hobby or used when you don’t have the means because of circumstances beyond your control. Bit an entire fuck everything personality.
Yeah I’m basically back to 2012 with public torrents and ripping from streaming websites I don’t trust very well. And downloading to an external hard drive that very well might die on me and ruin my day eventually.
But now I have a jellyfin server to watch it on, so I got that going for me, which is nice.
LoL I remember in the early 2010s a porn comic that actually did this and people were shocked because it seemed like a lot of work for a small niche thing.
And then we realized that converting to a png and then back to jpg killed the identifier. But the system was in place and I have seen so many versions of and workarounds for it. Someone even had a custom clipper software that just looked for the excess identifier data on the end of the file and would trim it.
I think it’s wise to always think they might be doing this kind of stuff, especially big companies, but breaking it is pretty easy usually even by accident.
It can be about the compression. I know I had downloaded like 4 versions of Your Name because it has been re-encoded by several different groups and sometimes higher resolution with more compression was far worse to look at than lower resolution with good bit rate.
Some people have a magic touch and they just make incredible files and I so want their settings for handbrake when I rip my own media.
LoL I’m trying to figure this out too. I found server part deals.
But I don’t have the whole setup figured out yet. I have my jellyfin media drive in just an external enclosure and is just an 8tb which is backed up (sorta not really) on a couple 4tb external drives I have that I copy stuff too and from. Don’t even have a backup of my PC but that’s cause it really doesn’t take much to re set it back up from scratch and I have a second PC running the proxy and stuff…
I’m definitely not the best at this and just accept that I’m doing more than average and nowhere near the people who have this all figured out.
Class of 09: The Re-up
It’s a sorta virtual novel type game, but it absolutely knew what it wanted to be and nails it 100% of the time. It’s teenage edge with an edge so sharp it actually breaks skin.
I went to several schools and had a lot of shitty drama growing up and it somehow nails that perfect catharsis while being funny as hell. They released an anime style trailer that made me buy it. I think it was the perfect limbic test for the whole game.
See the biggest issue is that there isn’t an easy way to test any hypothesis here. For a pretty big obvious issue if you look at it.
You get wrong building a battery you maybe burn a building down, you get it wrong trying to cure pedophilia, you end up with a molested or hurt kid at worst. And a lot more people are gonna have strong emotions about the child than a building even if more lives are lost in the fire.
It’s such a big emotionally charged thing to get wrong. How do you agree to take the risk when no one would feel comfortable with the worst outcome?
So instead it’s easy and potentially just proper to push it aside and blanket say “bad”. And I hate black or white issues. But it’s impossible to answer without doing and impossible to do without and answer.
LOL the comments telling the Verge to shut it’s mouth.
Also man France loves piracy. I apparently need to learn French better.
