This will never be “solved” by hotel staff.

There is nothing in law to recognize the internet as a “public place”. Freedom of speech literally only protects your speech from governmental censorship. Simply does not apply online, no matter how much you want it to.

They do not offer downloads like you think. The downloads from basically any service are wrapped in DRM and can only be downloaded and played through their interface. You don’t own it. They can revoke your access to it.

There likely will not be anything like this in my or your lifetime. The music industry finally caved, but I don’t see the movie industry ever capitulating.

The major, glaring issue of an instance not allowing downvotes is that bad/misleading information is free to be posted unchallenged. Be better, Beehaw.

Cat 5e

The fact that your old cable was cat5e has no bearing whatsoever on you getting shit speeds before changing cables. The gigabit spec was codified and products were on the market before the cat5e spec was ratified. Gigabit ethernet was literally made for standard cat5. I bet your previous cable was terminated incorrectly, and was only using two of the four pairs, limiting you to 100mbit.

I like being able to access it anywhere, on (most) any device of my choosing.

I will if Plex ever stops doing what I need it to. As it stands, it works perfectly fine so I see no reason to switch.

I prefer having them instantly accessible from my truenas server. Plex is a godsend.

500MB, not Mb. Order of magnitude difference there.

how can it be that my little mini J1900 Celeron (2 GHz) with 4 GB RAM cannot handle this bandwith?

Because it’s ancient, and when it was new it was bottom-of-the-barrel.

Yes they are. Downloaded 22H2 ISO Thursday at work. In fact, with the correct script, every single Win10 ISO is still available to download, all the way back to the very first version.

gen.xyz controls all .xyz domains, even yours. Doesn’t matter where you registered it.

Sure those exist, but is there anything like a mod manager that works for those sites? Imagine having to manually manage your mods/addons for a game like Cities Skylines. When I played, I had well over 1000 assets installed. There’s simply no way that would work.

So if both sides are behind CGNAT and at least one doesn’t have IPv6, establishing a direct link is impossible.

Tailscale is piss easy to install and set up and works just fine for making a direct link from a CGNATed connection.

afaik it’s notoriously difficult to find streams things like fights and sportsballs as they happen

No, it really, really isn’t.

Without Nixon opening up trade relations with China when he did, China is probably still a largely agrarian nation today. They certainly wouldn’t have industrialized as quickly as they did. The US did that, for better or worse.

I’m concerned that my seeding these altered files is ‘harming’ the pool somehow

It 100% is. STOP DOING THIS. You are NOT seeding the original files. You are 100% poisoning the swarm. You WILL get banned, and it will be your own fault.

No, it’ll just lock out the common man running an LLM in a homelab completely from it. No biggie I guess.

They didn’t say it couldn’t be done, just that it isn’t the default way it sets itself up and requires more work.

“Host it in a country that your country has imposed sanctions on. What could possibly go wrong?”

The hosting company would refer LEO to the person renting the server. The hosting company would be a target of LEO in such a case only if they refused to cooperate.

I’ve since replaced the pros with red plus and they are MUCH quieter.

They’re also slower.
