I never was arguing against that. Also I’m pretty sure their moral compass was pushed by the feds until he topped himself, so nothing about their bullshit has surprised me since.

Pffffffffffff…since when is it a good idea to get financial advice from randos on the internet?

I mean, to be fair, I’m nearly positive that the Reddit T&Cs will have said they retain rights to anything posted there for ages. And the AI bubble is already showing signs of deflation or bursting coming not too far down the line. Let them enjoy their first and hopefully only profitable year.

But admittedly, I can understand that you don’t want to create something where you are pretty sure enough media illiterate idiots will not get that the fascists are NOT supposed to be the good guys.

Just look at Helldiver 1/2, couldn’t be more in your face about it, and yet there’s still people not getting it.

Hollis-Leick and narrative director Craig Sherman pushed back on some of the “do’s and don’ts” they received from Games Workshop about Space Marine vocabulary. They deviated from the suggested phraseology to make Titus and his comrades sound less “strange and antiquated”, less like the Spanish Inquisition, and more like soldiers from real-world present-day militaries. “Space Marines don’t necessarily say things like ‘dismissed’,” Hollis-Leick observed. “There’s a line in the game where Acheran says ‘company dismissed’ and they really wanted me to change that to ‘brothers, attend your duties’, or something. But it’s three words instead of one, and if that model was applied to all of the language in the game, I really strongly felt that people wouldn’t get it.”

Gonna be a whole lotta really peeved 40k ultra fans…

Exactly! There’s no reason to be that way, other than to feel superior to someone. And that’s just kinda a shit way to be!

I had an argument shortly after the great migration. Someone had posted a video essay on something gaming related and the person I responded to was adamant that a video couldn’t be an essay. It was a two hour deep dive into the topic, with graphs/journalistic photos/news video snippets, and the video info section had a citation list longer than your arm.
This person couldn’t understand that just because the creator had decided to present their essay in video format, didn’t mean it wasn’t an essay. All they had to say basically boiled down to:
only stupid people watch a video this long when you could read the equivalent amount of information in less than half the time.

Needless to say, that got my hackles up a tad.

Thanks so much for taking the time to give me this info.

Ah, yeah, sorry. Currently I’m using WireGuard, but I’m open to using something else.

I’ll have a look at Tail/Headscale, this was very informative, thank you very much.

Some users just need to be able to exit my home network.
I would like to, maybe, in the future have a file server/jellyfin, have access to other devices on my network and if I’m somewhere with low enough latency stream games off steam.

Just wanted to say, thanks for asking me for further details. You could have been a dick about my unclear initial post, and I appreciate your just picking away at it until I was a bit more specific about what I was actually asking for.
If this was reddit the whole thing would’ve been a fair bit more hostile.

Email is going through my domain to ProtonMail, was really easy to set up, and works like a charm.

This is all good info, thanks! Gives me a bit of reading to do before I start shifting everything over.

VPN needs to come in from my domain IP, but exit from my network. What network security best practices should I be implementing?

Journey into self-hosting
So, I have a rpi4b that's currently running a VPN for family abroad. I'm just finishing setting up Ubuntu server 24.04LTS(I have limited number of USB sticks, and the largest is only 8gb, so this choice was one of size, I can go into ones I had considered before) on an old laptop. For my small business I've also bought a domain for a work email, and eventually a website both are/will be hosted externally as I don't want to faff about with securing those aspects on my home network. The VPN though, that is currently pointing to no-ip dns service, and I want to migrate that to both the laptop and my own registered domain. What's best practices here? I do need the VPN to exit through to my network, so that my MiL can watch UK streaming from abroad(TV licence shenanigans).
fedilink

Half is a bit conservative. For non news/politics stuff, it’s a fraction that has anything to do specifically with the USA. If it’s news/politics related it’s well over 75%

But overall it came up short

Know what was actually really, really good?
The tie in podcast. Great production value, great voice actors, and really great story, character development and pacing!
I grab Calisto Protocol off Epic, but only because it’s free. I watched some reviews and gameplay footage, and it’s…kinda meh. From what I saw of gameplay, the story is a bit reductive, and, unless they fixed it the melee combat is a bit of a joke.

Didn’t use to be, I’d get stopped any time I was wearing shorts(the tattoo is on my calf) that hasn’t happened in almost 10 years.

Trogdor burns in the night, that’s how cool Trogdor is.

You saying my Trogdor The Burninator tattoo was a bad idea? You been talking to my wife? Well the both of you can fuck right the fuck off!

I immigrated from Vancouver to London, and people here in the UK just don’t get how much more expensive it is back home. Like even with the exchange rate the cost of ~2L of milk is nearly ⅓. And that’s just milk, it’s basically the same the whole way across the board.

Just Edinburgh planning are fickle. We got someone on the wrong day, and they decided, fuck these guys in particular. They are notorious for things like stringing an application along for 5 years for no good reason. We’re requesting a formal rejection, a decision was supposed to have been made in January, so we can take it to appeals. Thankfully since we’re in a listed building the appeal goes directly to the office of a minister and not back to Edinburgh Council planning.

Single glazed everything, shoddy extension that’s falling to bits, and no insulation anywhere, 12ft ceilings and also our boiler is shit. It’s a two bedroom Victorian terrace, ground floor. Fighting with Edinburgh Council to get approval for a much needed renovation, but even though the category of listing our home is literally only covers the front facade, our really quite modest renovation plan would “be a detriment to the character of the neighbourhood”. Our upstairs neighbour also paid significantly less that winter…but they got approval to rip all their floors up and install insulation and double glazed windows.

And some Canadians held pro-Trump marches during the last American elections…we also have idiots, no country is immune from having dumb people.

I’m from Vancouver, Canada, so everything seemed so cheap when I moved to the UK…except natural gas and electricity. Like I held the lease and had all the utils in my name for a house when I lived in Canada, 14 people, all gamers. And the bills in winter were less than half what my wife and I were paying this past winter.

My wife and I make a decent income between the two of us, and we nearly froze to death winter before last! £500pcm+ to keep our house at like 10°C, absolute madness.

Agree to disagree, I likely have a sleep disorder, so I haven’t had a good night’s sleep in nearly 10 years! Check, and, mate! Fuck I hate my life…

Well…depends on what the vertical distance is I’d wager…

You really gotta look at their actions. What they say they want and what they show us they want are clearly two different things.

Not seen it anywhere else in this thread so…Colosseum: Road to Freedom
Roman slave fights in the arena to gain fame, fortune and, most importantly, freedom. Super good. Highly recommend 👌 👍 👏 🙌

Metroid:FF is the only one with a rating over 3.4, so don’t get your hopes up…

Metroid Prime: Federation Force.
Moon.
Dementium: The Ward.
Potentially Battlefield 3, though I was finding a lot of conflicting posts/articles. So like 3 FPS games, maybe 4, but again, couldn’t find a CIA/ROM and only saw loads of conflicting info about BF3 on 3ds.
