I was actually thinking about Megatrainer XL/EX, but good guess!

Ok, I’m just gonna be specific. Mods can delete it if it’s against the rules, but as you rightly imply, being circumspect about it isn’t working.

Searching for a Cheat Engine table for the game (FIFA Manager 14 with the 2023 update mod. Holds up surprisingly well!) was actually how I was reminded of the old trainer Megatrainer XL, which is what I originally used for free a decade and more ago when the FIFA Manager games were new.

They call it Plitch now, though, and apart from the “extremely stingy freemium” part, it doesn’t even work with the FIFA Manager 23 executable and Megatrainer XL, having been a rougher but otherwise much more forgiving piece of software, probably would. The part that makes it piracy is that they still retain the rights to the superior product they’ve since abandoned…

The same comment on the fearless forums also suggested its sister Megatrainer EX in their comment last month. They didn’t post a download link, though and I don’t know if that’s even allowed on the fearless forums 😕

Finding old version of game trainer
A trainer I used to love back in the day used to be free/shareware but has since changed to an extremely stingy freemium model. Any idea where I might look for the old version? I'd be more specific, but I'm not sure whether it would be against the requests rule..

Yeah, it would seem so. Can’t do that, though, owing to the aforementioned refusal of my phone to have anything to do with xpi files 😮‍💨

Looks like it SHOULD work, but when I search for addons, I get quick (far too quick to select any of them m) flashes of gray rectangles where suggestions would normally be and no search results after I execute the search.

I’m beginning to suspect that the Firefox app is broken 😕

How do I install it on Firefox android, though?

My phone won’t open xpi files and the only solutions I’ve been able to find is either create a html file in the same folder, which I don’t know how to do on android, or download and install an extension which is ALSO only available as an xpi 🤦

Oh absolutely! Tge likes of Zynga are a plague on mankind and developers of games with actual merit (no thanks to said developers) following their example is hugely detrimental to the quality and accessibility of games in general.

Without reading the article, I’m going to guess that crackers have gotten more skilled and the greedy as fuck leeches destroying what is still one of the most profitable industries in the world are especially freaking out about there being others than just a single megalomaniac cracking Denuvo now.

Needs an elaborate by github standards workaround to work on android? I think I’ll just continue to avoid sites whose paywalls archive.ph and 12foot can’t defeat…

Semi-related: what’s a good frontend for android TV? I’m loving NewPipe on my phone, but on the TV it refuses to work in full screen and often in not-full screen too…

1: apparently they’re legal for commercial use only, not personal

2: since when does an all-powerful oppressive government have to be consistent in their oppression? Their original justification was suspicion of running a twitter account ffs!

Those are the kind of people who will always find something to ridicule or complain about, though, so you should never let their hypothetical bitching affect your decisions.

Cycling streams
Anyone know where to look for free cycling streams, specifically ones showing the Vuelta?

I technically have an account, but I haven’t logged into it since a month or so after Musk started destroying it.

The final straw was getting banned for a full week for “hate speech” just for pointing out that Bill Burr probably wouldn’t want to participate in a Tucker Carlson “special report” about how “humor isn’t allowed anymore”, nor give permission for clips of him to be included in a promo for it 🤦

The initial source (or at least the one linked to in the reddit post) is the vastly inferior microblogging version of xvideos though, so skipping reddit would have been even worse 🤷

Correct. Opportunity cost being a bunch of bullshit invented by rich people greedy for more, of course.

Once again for those who didn’t know or forgot: just like with every other industry making the same complaint, when they say that it “costs billions”, that’s true in the exact same way as losing a random lottery ticket would cost me millions: completely hypothetically.

In their calculations, every person who watches an illegal stream would, had the stream not been available, pay their ridiculously high prices to watch legally rather than not watch at all.

In reality, the opposite is many times more common and it’s frankly journalistic malpractice that mainstream media always just regurgitate that claim as if it was indisputably true.

Like with copaganda, they’re covering for predatory practices, in this case charging much more than your target customers can afford and then using draconian measures against those providing an alternative solution that wouldn’t have been necessary if the product had been reasonably priced.

I’m in favor, for sure. Still, those tend to already be public domain 🤷

I use streams rather than IPTV, but I have an answer nonetheless: sports. It’s just about the only TV I ever watch live anymore because it’s the only kind that HAS to be live.

The best piracy for music is digital piracy. Literal ship-based piracy is very inefficient when it comes to acquiring tunes.

Ok, bad example since, unlike the traitor flag, pick up trucks are used by lots of non-bigoted people 😁

Maybe the fact that several characters are canonically not straight including

minor spoiler

The daughter of a benevolent god

Yeah, having progressive elements in a game or movie meant mainly for conservatives is like a pickup truck that only comes in pink or this flag:

But do you have enough that you knew that Norway doesn’t HAVE a president and never did? 🤔

My own ancestry, living family and self is exclusively Scandinavian (specifically Danish), going all the way back to the 1400s, hence the first half of my username 😁

What’ll he do for an encore, admit that the sun rises in the east and Trump is a conman?

So the fact that they, citizens of a country with no extradition treaty with the US currently in a country where extradition is famously murky at best, don’t want to be extradited to face an American kangaroo court means that they have no rights and MUST be extradited to face an American kangaroo court?

It’s like Orwell and Kafka had a baby and then someone appointed that baby emperor of the world 🤦

Ok, so I managed to run the installer with the help of bottles and it seemingly succeeds, but “add to steam” does nothing and when I try the add new game option in steam, the game is nowhere to be found.

It’s like the installer is trying to tell the system where the game is but only bottles is listening and it can’t actually run it 🙁

Playing pirated video games on Linux
Anybody know how to play pirated Windows games on Linux? I recently installed Lubuntu (22.04.2 Jammy Jellyfish) on my ancient laptop and all the guides I can find and trying out Lutris only seem to apply to "legit" copies bought from the official sources. Is it even possible or will I have to do dualboot when I install Linux on my gaming desktop?

The other cracks football games? You mean like FIFA? Because I haven’t seen any cracks of those…
