Weird thing is that Fillion is back as Cayde in the final shape promos.

Lots of weird incorrect answers in the comments. MS 100% has changed CPU architectures and needs to emulate old games. The 360 was basically a PowerMac.

My guess - the Xbox One’s launch catalog was trash, and MS doubled down on emulation to build it out. Then they never stopped. They kept plugging away at it, and now they have a giant asset for GamePass.

MS got a head start because they were desperate for good games in the early days on the One.f

Or you do what MS does. Put the old games in your subscription service. Make money with monthly fees from people who don’t have the disks or don’t have an optical drive.

As other noted, this is not true. The early 360 development kits were literally PowerMac towers purchased from Apple.

360 games require emulation, and MS has been slowing plugging away at expanding its emulation library for years. None of this was easy.

The original Xbox, Xbox One, and S/X are all basically x86 PCs, but the 360 was basically a Power Mac. Microsoft was literally using PowerMac G5 towers as early development kits for the 360.

Supporting 360 games is pretty time consuming and requires emulation. MS has been slowly chipping away at it for years.

Love - auto health or shield regen. When I first experienced that in Halo it made me instantly hate other games that didn’t have some form of that mechanic.

I hate managing health inventory items. It breaks gameplay flow with tedious bullshit that isn’t nearly as fun as focusing on the a combat mechanic.

Exploding heads is a good example of a far right instance. A lot of folks have defederated from them. The biggest instance, Lemmy.world, just cut ties and they’re furious.

Not a great day for social media. Twitter down, Reddit has not 3rd party apps, Lemmy is being hugged to death by people bailing Reddit and Twitter.

I guess I’ll go outside.

If you’re going all in on smart home shit, you should ALWAYS buy the products that work when the internet goes out, or when the local IoT network shits out.

Example, fuck Hue lights. Gets Caseta switches that are wired in and can be used like real switches. Don’t get a smart lock that requires a phone or a wireless pays. Get one that also has a keypad that is hardwired directly into the lock and has a normal key hole. Carry the key just incase.

Having used both, Penpot still had a feature gap. For example, prototyping in Figma is much farther along. Penpot is still stuck in Invision land.

Looking at that haircut, I’m going to assume this man doesn’t make smart choices. Is that a frombover?

People love to try to cheat on their taxes in the US. Hell, Trump basically bragged about it on the debate stage while running for President.

All in all, what he did was consider a misdemeanor since he paid it back once he got called out.

He didn’t pay his taxes, he got caught, he paid up and now he’s on probation. Seems like he was held accountable.

I have a GamePass subscription, so I don’t see why I wouldn’t play it. That’s kind of the point of GP. Try random stuff, keep what you want installed, delete the rest.

I don’t see anyone in here talking about HomeKit, which is also a good solution for secure IOT. Many HomeKit accessories can be set up to only communicate with your LAN and to not need 3rd party apps or accounts.

I also have my system connect to a router that supports HomeKit secure, which blocks any phoning home to 3rd parties.

Big problem with HomeKit is 1) Siri is meh 2) fewer IOT accessories

Was it though? Maybe to people like us, but not to my folks.

Personally, I‘d prefer some sort of naming convention that was like Apple’s. Generation number, then some sort of Good, Better, Best name tacked on the back.

That said, the words Apple picked for Good-Better-Best are kind of stupid and not as clear as the could be.

This has to be a joke, right? Digg is basically just an editor controlled blog that reposts the top of r/all these days.

Also… Slashdot? It’s it 1999?

Now that Facebook has signed up about everyone in the planet that’s willing to sign up, they’re going to double down on growing by milking the folks they already have.

That means more short form crack content and less stuff of substance.

Give it time. Big communities will form, and unlike Reddit, there will be more competition between them. You won’t just have one group of mods squatting over “Apple” or “Android” because they registered it first.

Some, but it’s open source and a lot of people have day jobs. I’ve wanted to contribute to some things that are annoying me, but after work, exercise, taking the dog out, and making dinner, I have like 2 hours of my time…. so it’s hard to rally.

I do not recommend getting attached to Reddit Is Fun, although it is a great app.

The people that preorder clearly aren’t listening

Reddit has amazing SEO, and it looks like Spez is now hell bent on destroying that as well.

What a fucking incompetent moron. Google hates when people put roadblocks over mobile web experiences. Over the past 5-ish years they’ve down ranking sites that obstruct m.web.

The tricky thing will be the small niche communities that are already hosted on Reddit. For example, there is a group of us dorks who are really into home automation with HomeKit. I’d hate for that small group to splinter into smaller groups that are so small that they’re no longer a good source of collective knowledge.

I don’t really have a great solve for that problem, but as someone who does experience and service design by trade, I’ve found this to be a fun puzzle to marinate on over the past few weeks.

Bit of a tangent here, but if you’re ever looking for experience designers to help out here and there, or to just give something a second set of eyes, I might be able to lend a hand or connect y’all with some bright and chill people.

You probably don’t want me making any PRs, but I know my way around Figma and a user test plan.
