For me it’s mainly a nice backup for when the Xbox or TV is occupied by someone else. I don’t think I’d use it as my prime source of gaming. It works but it’s not quite as good as the actual playing on your own hardware.

Really looking forward to this… been itching for a new playthrough for quite some time now but saving it for the traverse day.

Looks pretty nice tbh! Probably going to stick to my current phone a few more years until it stops being updated but if I manage to break it this might just be the replacement.

Looked like ads at first. Gave me a slight cyberpunk vibe for some reason. At least big corpo dystopia.

I do use that. I have a Series X but I play on PC as well. Some games aren’t available on xbox and sometimes the TV might be occupied or I might want to squeeze in some quick gaming while already at my desk.

Well of course. There’s always room for improvement though.

You can still have checkpoints and auto saves at intervals. That way you can reload if you save a second before dying or whatever.

Meh, annoying save systems won’t stop me for buying an otherwise great game but it will somewhat bug me while playing.

Very much so! For the longest time I had a xerox of some gaming magazine with all the save codes for Lemmings!

Pretty much this. And if they’re worried about that just make it so you can only save and quit?

True but that won’t help with many modern games.

Ugh… I wish more developers kept their customers engaged by making good games instead of creating some meta game to keep the hamster wheel running. That feels like a lot of MMO’s…

That would be awesome, I hope they can do it!

Wonder is Valve could implement that on windows as well?

I’d never play that on PC. It would work on xbox though since quick resume just let’s ju pop out to the dashboard and resume whenever. It’s not foolproof but I’ve only had to restart from a checkpoint a few times.

Save states would be nice. Just dump the game’s data from ram to disk.

That would probably take up a ton of space though. :)

Some games seem to manage it quite well though? But yeah, they probably had to pit a lot more energy into implementing it.

Yeah, good point and that’s a valid reason I suppose.

It’s still very nice when you have more flexibility.

Wish PC games could implement something like the xbox quick resume or something.

Autosaves are great and all… I just want to be able to quit whenever. There’s usually a confirmation when you’re trying to quit anyway. Just save and quit then. :P

I’m glad at least some games still allow you to do that.

Yeah, quick resume on xbox as well and that’s great, most modern games use it. Not all though and not on PC.

Yeah, it really can’t be that hard to show a saving indicator…

Pet peeve, games that won’t let you save
I wish all games would just let you save whenever you want to! Why is using checkpoints and auto saves so common? At least add a quit and save option if you want to avoid save scumming. These days I just want to be able to squeeze in some gaming whenever I can even if it's just quick sessions. That's annoyingly hard in games that won't let you save. I wonder what the reason for this is?

I never really managed to get into NV. I really should give it another try soon. I loved 1,2 and 3. Played 4 a bit but lost interest after a while.

I think it’s the whole western vibe that NV has going on that put me off.

Might have to install it again and put some serious hours into it to see if I manage to get hooked.

Oh… I used to play this way back when! Might just have to install it again! Thanks fpr the trip down memory lane!

Not sure if it’s me cup of tea at the moment but it does look impressive so far.

That’s such an awesome feature! I hate that it’s so common for games not to let you save and quit whenever you want and only make you chase checkpoints.

I just want to be able to hop in and out for quick sessions whenever…

I know that feeling… I play a little bit at night when only us adults are up. It helps that my wife also games at times.

Other than that… I work from home so I might sneak in some gaming during lunch breaks and so on.

Overall? Not a whole lot.

If I get up to 2 hours a day I’m pretty happy. :P

Isn’t it strange that it hasn’t really been done yet?

That too yeah! :D

It really would make a great game. Pretty much Sim Ant on steroids… and with bees of course :D

Never thought of it that way tbh but yeah, it totally was!

See, now we just need a graphics guru and probably a sound person and we can have something going!

Maybe a biologist as well?

Don’t really remember the music, I’ll have to look it up.

It was so satisfying to manage to get the family to move out of their house because of all the ants too!

I think I still might have the box and the book laying around somewhere!

I’ll second Security Now!

Listened to it for years but kind of lost track when I stopped having to commute. Kind of miss it really but I don’t find as much time for podcasts these days sadly.

That’s pretty neat!

Maxis were pretty impressive back then! Pioneers really.

Yeah… it’s playable in the browser on a bunch of places and probably easily available as abandonware as well. But yeah, it’s sad how few old games are available for actual purchase.

I want a Sim Ant game but with bees
Beehaw has me thinking about bees.. Sim Ant was such a nice little game when it came out (yes, I'm old) and it ought to be fun to have something similar but with bees. Does anyone know if such a game exists? I looked around a bit and found [Bee Simulator](https://store.steampowered.com/app/914750/Bee_Simulator/) on steam but that's more playing a single bee, not managing the entire hive. Might still be neat though even if it's not quite what I had in mind. Anyway, just.. wanted more bees. :)

Diablo IV freezes in Linux
Any of you running D4 in Linux through Lutris? I'm currently on openSUSE Tumbleweed with Lutris installed as a flatpak from flathub. The game runs pretty decently though I had to turn down the graphics a bit compared to what I can run in Windows. After a while tho the game starts chugging and then basically freezes almost completely. I can still hear sounds in the background but the game looks like it slows down to like one frame per minute and I can't tab out or switch over to a terminal with alt ctrl F* either. Basically my entire computer slows to a halt and I end up having to do a hard pwoer off. Anyone else having this problem?
