I have gigabit, and struggled to stream. Turned out I had the Quality of Service (QoS) /traffic priority settings on my router misconfigured.
This might be something to look into.
Can a remote user download something from your network at a reasonable and consistent speed? (Not using Plex)
Can you upload a large file somewhere and monitor the speed and see if it maintains speed as expected?
For me, these two things were also performing at unexpectedly low speeds, or being wildly inconsistent until I fixed my QoS settings.
Huh, that’s unintuitive to me. I remember people talking about too many hard drives in a case using too much power before. Overloading it, etc. 1-2W each would not overload a normal power supply. 🤔
Did hard drives just quietly get super efficient when I wasn’t paying attention? Or is something else going over my head here?
This is why Satya Nadella said he could make Google dance.
Yeah, so far those are generally acceptable. If they ever get out of control tho… it’ll be on the creators accepting them. And then those creators will hopefully lose their audience.
If YouTube ever decides to allow for the locking of seeking in selected sections of the timeline, you’ll know we are on the darkest timeline.
Im down with paying for YouTube. I use it a lot, and loath ads. I also don’t wanna get attached to another third party client just for it to be taken away. Especially one that is breaking TOS or otherwise not using an official API
They can’t keep raising the prices though. It’s already at a limit really.
Also, the “rewards” that message proffers are bullshit. Just like the rewards that Google One has.
It’s kind of insulting. Like I said, I’ll pay because the money ends up with creators. And many creators say it’s more that ads get them. But puffing up bullshit rewards? Fuck off.
do Tim Pool next. And take his hat.
